Ring and pinion

I bought a 4.56 ring and pinion and an install kit for my Dana 44and dana30 3.73. But I think I need to buy a 4.56 thick gear to change it. Or 3.92 and up. Otherwise, I can't change the ring and pinion I bought. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for your help.

That or change out the carrier.

This is why most folks that do regears install lockers...it solves the carrier break problem neatly.

The shim packs will not be complete and include anything thinner than 0.010"... otherwise OK. Seals are mid level quality
