I currently have a 4 inch lift on my LJ with rough country n2 shocks. Took a look at the welded nuts and bolts and I don’t think it’s gonna be a very forgiving job. Any suggestions other than soaking them? I was going to use a pressure washer and try and blow out all the crud first.

Soak them several times over a few days with (mediocre) Liquid Wrench, (better) Kano Kroil, or (best) 50:50 ATF and Acetone. Not PB Blaster, not WD-40.

Then tighten them slightly, loosen, tighten, loosen, and work them out slowly, back and forth as needed.

When I replaced mine last year I got one bolt out on each side and broke the other off on each side. This was after a few days of repeated Kroil soakings and trying to work them back forth. I ended up using a dremel with metal cutting discs to remove the welded in nuts. I was very leery of using something to heat them up that close to the gas tank

I got it back together with nuts held in a log open end wrench from behind the cross member the shocks bolt to.

I was thinking that’s probably the way it was going to go, but I was thinking of using a 1 inch threaded rod with serrated flange nuts on either side. Use some blue Loctite and have the serrated lock washer up on top and then use a serrated lock nut below the shock
