Questions about lift

1 might measure the distance between upper and lower shock mounts at ride height and be able to come to a guestimate of where the mid point of the stroke should be.
whether you can reach both ends of that chosen shock is answered by cycling the suspension.
or 1 could start with cycling the suspension and possibly seek an optimal fit or add more range to the shock if able.

I assume I need to do this after I get the new springs installed?

The basis for my confusion is that I can keep the shocks I already have that are clearly designed by Bilstein for 0" to 2" of lift or I can buy shocks designed (In various increments) for lifts greater than 2". So someone can measure all they want, but you only have certain choices to pick from.

I'll measure the distance between the shock mounts after everything is installed and settled and just see where I am and then decide if I need new/different shocks. I guess I was hoping I could just swap everything out all at the same time.
