Putting it back on the road

Meanwhile I had to drive the Jeep to work for a week when my daily was in the shop. The Jeep is parked now, til the appointment at the shop for the rear diff pinion bearing. Making a lot more noise then I like.... I have a master bearing kit for them to install. I did pick up half doors in the mean time!

Got her back today!
Did not expect to hear that the spider gears were shot....
I did know that the pinion bearing was bad.
I can hear myself think while driving now!!!!!! Now to get back to it. Got parts for the soft top bows. Hope to get to it this weekend.

Yesterday I did an oil change. Also, changed the gear lube in the transmission...
Man did the transmission oil stink!!! The plug had some slime on it, but not as bad as I expected.
Why is there such a bad smell to the old gear lube? Is it a sign of age? Maybe the last owner put in old fry oil. LOL!

Question...
I ran the VIN on my Jeep to get the build.
The tire size on the build sheet matches the spare size, make and model. Including rim.
30X9.5R15
The sticker on the door jam does not.
Is this normal for a Chrysler product?

A bunch of work has been done over the past couple of months. Not many pictures of all of it.

New heater core installed. That was a chore! Found there were a lot of missing and lose fasteners in the dash! All tight now! Found that the gasket was missing from the fan! While the dash was out, replace the door ajar switch in the passenger side along with the antenna base. Much easier to get at with the dash out, Since I took the passenger seat out, I threw in a new set of spacers and bushings on it.

Then I noticed that it was taking forever to heat up.... The thermostat was stuck open. New one took care of that.

Then replaced the steering box with a Redhead. Man is the steering nice now!

My son and I took the drivers side door card off and lubricated the window regulator. Major improvement since I have to roll the window down everyday going into work.

Also, finally have a correct radio in the dash!!!!

Now I have matching new headlamps. Took the time to measure out and align them. I see the light now

The Jeep is my daily nowadays. About 2 months now. Getting pretty good at driving a manual. But, man is first a short gear...
