Greed got to him when he realized he could get much more for it. I always keep my word when selling Jeeps. I've been offered more money to sell out from under someone who got there first. Not going to happen.

No offense dude but I wouldn’t hold a vehicle for two weeks on the assumption you’ll pay asking price then. I would at least have the decency to tell you if I sold it.

Lol I loved the old YJ I had, so I think getting it for $8k isn't a bad deal.
Huge bummer on the TJ, but I'm not even slightly surprised. When I went to go get my Apex, The guy was so inundated with calls on it that he listed it as "sold." I was the first one there and he was stressing. I had to cough up another $200 to get him to sell it to me. That sucked, but a rust free florida jeep in Massachusetts is worth another $200.

Good learning experience! I have faith something better will come up. It was a nice TJ, but I'll keep my eyes peeled and find something else eventually. I still think the economy goes south this year, so I'll sit in cash and snag one when someone has to unload theirs!
I get that, but nostalgia is also a hell of a drug. Hold out for a TJ, no sense in buying a leaf sprung vehicle in 2022 unless you’re planning on taking them off.
Yeah, but $8k is still $4k better than I would've done on the TJ for something that is at least similar capability wise.
Sure, the TJ was super clean, but if I can snag the YJ for $8k I think it would satisfy. Hard to find anything stock with decently low miles anymore.
I'm trying to be cup half full! Would've just hopped on a plane and paid extra in hindsight, but oh well....

You should be able to snag a decent TJ for 8k… that YJ is worth about 5k, definitely not 8k. Mileage shouldn’t be too big of a deterrent, these engines and drivetrains are pretty reliable.
West coast/PNW Wranglers tend to sell high. Been off and on looking for years and rarely see anything under 100k for the prices you mention. I mean, the TJ I was watching was clean, Dana 44, 64-65K miles, stock...but ended up selling for 14k (I'm assuming since it was re listed for that and the guy totally cut ties with me). So that goes to show the market out here for Wranglers.
Where are you finding them for this price? I'll look elsewhere if I can snag a nice TJ under 10k if it's 100k miles or less.

The newest TJ is now 16 years old. I would focus more on condition and less on mileage. With any vehicle that is 10+ years old, finding one with less than 100k miles will be difficult to begin with, nevermind one that is as desirable as a TJ. If they are maintained, they can go a long time, and you would rather have a well maintained Jeep that was driven every day compared to one that sat around with low miles, trust me I've owned both.
My 1998 Sahara has 160k miles, but it came from California. The frame is spotless underneath, and it basically drives like brand new because it was well maintained. It was half the price of an 80k mile TJ I drove from here in CT that definitely had a hard life.
That TJ looks great, and great price point. I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a deal like that right now. Hate that it's a manual though.
Yeah...which is why YJ for 8k with 72k miles in good condition sounds more appealing
It might be if you want a YJ… but it’s not really a deal by any means, so it’s not really that appealing to me.
Totally get it. I'm not pressed to buy something, so trying to be strategic and get something that's a killer deal. Hard to find YJs, stock, with low miles like that. Maybe not a killer deal, but it's solid from what I've seen out here.
I'd rather spend up to 12-13k on a nice stock TJ with low miles. So if I can't get the YJ down to $8k I'll just keep looking...and be less "trusting" and more apt to jump on a deal when it comes up!
You’ll find something you’re happy with. The key is to not get antsy and jump at something. Take your time.
