During some mud crossings in the past, the mud hit the fan and covered the inside of the engine bay, including the electronics.

What's a good way to avoid this? Maybe a splash guard?

I used to spray everything with silicone. It repels water and mud slides right off. A can of PAM cooking spray does the same thing. I did that when I raced motocross in deep mud (engine and under the fenders). No mud buildup after a 40 minute moto.

Would slathering your vehicle with butter attract bears and other wildlife?

What could you slather your vehicle with to keep the bears away?

Ammunition.

IIRC, the mechanical fan sits behind the shroud. Not necessarily inexpensive, but changing to to an electrical fan sitting within a purpose built shroud would likely help with sling.

Seems like it would make the hungry…that’s smell of cooking oil the whole race, ha

When i mud raced back in the 80's there was always a water tanker/pumper truck to wash off racers with......

Silicone does work too
