It's pouring rain here right now and I can't get my back seat out of the shed to check but I have a Blaupunkt powered sub woofer that is 9x14 and 3.25" thick, will it fit under the seat?

It should. I have a 8 inch kicker hideaway and it fits. I have it in the middle towards the front barely under seat, not pushed back etc.

The 3.25” dimension is the only question. It’s very close. You can always add a spacer under the rear seat mounting brackets and seat belt bracket if you can’t quite fit it. I suspect you are G2G though.

Thanks guys, the rain let up and I got the seat installed and it fits! I got most of the wiring run and tomorrow I will pick up the ground under one of the seat bracket bolts. Then I will figure out how I will secure the sub, my thoughts on that are 2 footman loops with a strap. I did notice when I fold the seat up it wants to nudge the sub back a couple inches.

Then I need to figure out how to adjust it, the sub was designed for either high level input or RCA input from the receiver and I am using the RCA inputs so I don't even know if these adjustments matter as I have adjustments on the head unit as well. Any tips on that would be appreciated.

I think I have the crossover and phase figured out, I just need to figure out what to do with the volume since I now have that control in the head unit.

I know bass is non-directional. Though wouldn't you want a sub to not be covered up like that for better sound?

Ideally you want about 4” of space between a speaker and a surface, but I decided to go the under rear seat route about 6 years ago. I ran a 8” powered sub attached to the seat firing down with probably 2” of space (the seat rises from rear to front, so the space actually varies, but you get my point). It did fine.

When the powered sub died I built a box to fit underneath firing up with the amp under the steering column as many before me have done. This one was right on the seat (it actually marked the bottom of the foam seat). I raised the seat 3/4”. It sounds great. No issues.
