Poor Gas Mileage (2005 4.0 Automatic)

That's right at what to expect if your 05 4.0 auto is pretty stock. In fact, 14 was the govt combined rating for that rig when it was new:

As has been said, a TJ has the aerodynamics of a brick. Also, drivetrain HP loss vs HP rated at the crank is on the order of 30%, dyno proven for mine and others like @Jezza. These vehicles have many worthy attributes, but fuel efficiency is NOT one of them.

I was looking at my window sticker an hour ago, 2006 LJ

Besides coasting downhill with engine off, ever gotten 19?

I did get 17 shortly after I bought on a road trip, but it came with a set of JK 32's.

I pretty much plan on 10 mpg now. I usually get better but not always. I shouldn't run out of fuel that way.

I got 15 with my 4.0 on 31s. 13 with my stroker on 33s and now 12 on 35s. At least it didn't really change when I went from 4.11 to 5.13 gears!
