Yea, the choppers don't fly fast or high. So thermal cycling isn't a problem. I think most answers in the military are bullshit so the (higher rank) person feels knowledgeable to the privates. And from there stupid breeds stupid. Like the story how all the oil reserves are from a layer of dead dinosaurs that all piled up in one place and then committed mass suicide together. They like to do that type of stuff. Silly lizards...
 
On fasteners that don't require a lot of torque, I just use a small ratchet that would be next to impossible to over tighten. Example: T-stat housing, valve cover, differential cover, tranny pan, etc). I use a torque wrench on bearing caps, bearing bolts, head bolts and the like where exacting tolerences are preferred.
