Piss & Moan Table

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Nope!!! NO Miatas in my future and the TJ will not get sold or otherwise depart my ownership any time soon!!!
I had the opportunity to make the money I needed to get my engine replaced and I couldn't pass it up... In the last 2 months i've been out on fires for a total of 48 days. So needless to say I'm playing catch up with my online communities. 16 hour days don't leave much time for social media or reading emailso_Oo_Oo_O
Good on ya, my friend!!! 🇺🇸

How does all this work around with your postal job? Or has something changed, there?
When I'm gone either my dad or mom does it. This last round I was gone for 30 days and my dad was gone for 16 so my mom had it all to herself. She actually enjoys it when we're both on fires, Hmmm....:unsure::unsure:

With winter starting to hit I need to be here to start getting things ready, I told the contactor I work for that if we got a call out, I would be able to take the call to get the equipment to the fire but he'd have to have someone lined up to take my place within a couple days, so I could get back home. but at 4 to 5 hundred dollars a day it's hard to pass up a quick couple thousand dollars.

Sounds like helping others out is actually helping you out, as well. Talk about a win/win! (y)

I was up by Dinsmore, which would be the "North West" Quadrant. The Southern half is all in "Rehab" now, there is still some active fire in the North Eastern Quadrant but for the most part it is all internal. There is a Type 3 team that took over and they sent home or reallocated approximately 1000 people/resources. They were sending water tenders and hand crews back down to the southern half to aid in rehabbing before winter really sets in. Highway 36 still has closures due to timber removal and possible wind/fire events.

When you where in Dunsmuir were you able to go to the Mossbrae falls ?

I wish I'd had time to go explore while I was there. Like I said to @Squatch I was working 16 hour days so there wasn't much time to do anything outside of sleep and work. It was nice to come home and actually sit down and eat a dinner that was still warm....lol

Bet the last thing you wanted to eat was anything that was roasted or char-broiled, though! ;)
The biggest problem with fires this year has been COVID. We don't get to go through the chow line and pick what we get to eat besides the main course. They just pile everything into 2 "recyclable" containers and send you on your way.

I’d wish I would of known you where up there. It’s a mile walk you could do in your sleep. Head waters of the Sac

so with the impending civil war (promise I'm not going to get political) my wife decided we needed to have a completely inconsequential amount of firewood to send up our chimney with whatever is left of the heat in our house if infrastructure gets attacked and kills our gas supply or electricity long enough to burn all the gas we have for the generator.

So I went and bought about 3/4 of a truck bed full and brought it home. Got a couple of steel t-posts to bookend the firewood stack.

If you're paying attention more than I was, you'll see some coax cable running down the deck pillar/post on the left, alongside the gutter. That's my internet connection, which unbeknownst to me at the time I took this photo, was severed by that t-post.

That cable happens to be a direct-burial rated RG11, connectors for which are not readily available locally. Amazon will be delivering some tomorrow, but the Comcast guy beat them to the punch and got it fixed this morning. I still have to bury the line and re-stack my firewood but at least I'm connected.

Ho, Ho, Holiday shipping,
(brake caliper from RockAtuo for 2003 GMC ordered December 7th)
Abysmal USPS tracking (lets make the public purchase real tracking)
Packages sitting at the final USPS distribution point for 8 days before they send to local office.
Ever helpful (not) RockAuto: If its not there by 12/24 we'll start a trace.
Call the local post office to get a trace, "Hey your package arrived this morning" Rural carrier route. Awesome!
Day comes and goes no package. Look at tracking again, "Package held at post office per customer request" Holy what the F?
So they hold the pkg at the office w/o telling me on Saturday when they're open to 10am.
Last chance to extinguish the cigarette on the customer's arm.

hear that. Been waiting almost 2 weeks for a bump stop cup that I knowingly bought at a higher price because it was the one that had the earliest delivery.

Went to the Post Office for some stupid reason last week to get some packages off. It was a maddening conversation one would typically have with a government organization, no wonder they don't let CC holders carry a weapon on their property:

me: "Hello, I'd like to get this with two-day shipping".

USPS person "Oh, NOTHING is getting anywhere in two days. But, you can pay for two day shipping & if it's not there in five days you can request a refund"

Me: "Then that's not two day shipping. If the soonest is 5 days then I'll pay for 5 day shipping"

USPS person: "5 day shipping won't get it there in a week, the only way to get it there in 5 days is to pay for 2 day shipping".

Me: "So paying for 2 day shipping will get it there within a week, not two days."

USPS person: "Yes".

Isn’t it a farce?
Seems like they slap the “your package is delayed” on every shipment preemptively.

Another productive discussion with the riddlers.

How about Amazon prime? Pay a fee to get two day shipping. Now it’s just mediocrity for a fee.
