I've been looking for a Mopar Crankshaft Position Sensor for my '99 TJ (2.5L). I looked online and see different part numbers for it. I see some that show up on Amazon, but the part numbers vary, and the top of the page says it will not fit my vehicle (although the description lists my vehicle). With all the problems I see with CPS's being installed that don't work, I just just want to make sure I buy the right one. Is it possible multiple part numbers fit? My backup plan (if I can't find a Mopar one) is to get an NTK brand.

Do you have an automatic or manual transmission? The CPS is different for automatic and manual transmissions. I looked in your Profile to find that answer but you haven't yet input any information about your TJ. Please complete it as soon as you can. :)

Updated the info. (It's a manual tranny)

Rock auto has the Mopar version for $100 or so. I just looked a few weeks back and had previously bought one through them about a year ago.

This is all they offer now

The original Mopar p/n for the '99 CPS is 56041819AA though that number was superseded several times and ended up as 56027865AB which doesn't appear to be available either.

Personally I'd go for the Standard Motor Products PC169 like at https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...4212,ignition,crankshaft+position+sensor,7196

This particular sensor is critical (it provides the engine's master timing signal for the PCM) so I'd stay with a major good quality brand like Standard Motor Products. And be aware that some sources claiming to be Mopar are not at all, they're often counterfeits.

And thanks for updating your Profile. :)

Thats great info, so thank you. I saw the two p/n's (ending in AA and then AB) and I couldn't figure out why there were two numbers. I'll check out hte Standard Motor Products one. I see it's listed as one of the more popular ones they offer...

AB is just a later version than AA is. SMP is a good choice when Mopar can't be found. 😊
