Non-4WD Jeep

The Postal service used 2WD Jeep DJs, otherwise known as AM Generals. They were basically 2WD CJs. They had limited slip differentials.
 
It will in low range , 1st. gear at 3m.p.h . just don't try to stop.
If you're "yard doggin" a jeep will move quite a bit of weight. There is however a huge difference between maneuvering trailers and driving down the road. My old man used to load up our 5x10 trailer with logs from his 2500 and move it down into the back yard with the TJ. Again if even your 13 year old says you'll miss 4x4 more than the 400lbs of towing, you should probably get the 4x4. Granted, that Chevy is over 400k now.

I owned a couple of VW Things (other aircooled too) and for a 2WD they do VERY WELL in the slick stuff. That Thing was a beast in the Snow being rear engined and rear wheel drive. Little under steer in the turns, but it went everywhere. The Gas Espar Heater in the '73 was a little scary but man did it heat. The only VW I had with decent defroster.

I was into air cooled VW's , a Baja bug or Dune buggy will leave a Jeep in 2wd. behind. Most folks didn't know how to correctly adjust the control cables for full defrost , but even when set correctly defrost was only fair. I was never around a gas heater , but could see it being scary . Especially with the German track recond . :oops:
