Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

Newbie looking for some help!

I am running a 2” pro comp spring lift with a 1.25 JKS body lift on 33” bf good rich KO
Love the ride quality
I had a vibration after that, so instead of the ugly tc drop, I did a 1” motor mount lift. Problem solved
Not to tall of a lift but perfect for my 5’ 8” height

I'm running BFG KO2 32's on 15" wheels and an OME LD 2" lift. It's my DD and I'm pleased with it.

To me this is perfect. Just the right amount of lift. I love the tires. I would just have the white letters on the outside. I know, I know.

But I have questions on this. I plan to do the OME 2 inch lift. No body lift for now. And I have an auto trans with 373 gears. I have factory 15 x 7 wheels. They are the stock Columbia edition grey wheels. What exact size are those tires? BFG doesn’t make 32x10.5/15 (only 31) so are those 12.5? If so the backspacing on the wheels must be at least 1” less than stock? I assume the 31x10 1/2 inches wide would fit on my stock wheels without rubbing, right? Maybe even without the lift? How is the ride and the noise with those tires?

You can run 31x10.5’s on those rims. Mine did not rub. Some do, but easy fix. Just add a washer or two to the steering stops.

You won’t be able to run a 12.5” wide tire on that wheel without wheel spacers. The backspacing is to deep.

Ride depends mainly on tire pressure and shock quality.

Noise depends on tread. Super swamper going to be loud, mud terrains will hum pretty good, all terrains a slight hum. It all really depends on the tire.

If I were you I’d run a 31x10.5r15 load C tire at 26-28 psi with whatever tread you want. I like more aggressive tires and need them for off-road, so I run a mud terrain

Thanks for the great insight. Excited I can run the 31x10.5 on my stock rims without a lift. I’m going to search for pics of this setup now. I have to determine for sure if this will be enough for me or if I feel I “need” a lift and bigger tires which will mean different wheels too...

Above edited because I was being a newb and asked a question that was answered in another thread

Here's what I did. 2'' OME lift springs front and rear(heavy duty) Rancho RX5000X shocks in the front and the 9000XL in the back. But I pull a trailer most times and needed the extra help in the back. Tires are 33'' x 12.5 on 15'' wheels with a -19 backspacing. No rubbing. And I barely make contact with my fenders when sitting on the bump stops.

-19 would be offset. Offset and backspacing are different. Just don't want the OP to get confused. You're Jeep looks great, but I've said that before! Most on here just use backspacing figures so we are all on the same page. I think its also more intuitive for most, since it's the measurement from the inside edge of the rim to the inside edge of the center of the hub mount surface. The more backspacing you have the shallower the dish is. Offset deals with a positive or negative metric (mm) measurement from the centerline of the wheel. Negative offset means the dish is deeper by the number of mm listed. Positive offset means the dish is shallower.

Good backspacing for a TJ (this is for the OP) is 3.75"-4.25" on an 8" rim. Preference really is the determining factor. I like my 3 5/8" backspacing, but it's too much for some and the tires stick out too far. For me it gives me a wider stance, slightly more stability offroad and the tires look bigger. If I were to do it again though, I would probably get 4" backspacing.

Here's a link to some explanations of backspacing and offset with some visuals.

I almost figured that's what you meant! Good info for the OP anyway.

@JMT... I know its off topic, but I LOVE your wheels (Cepak). Those the 15x8 with 3.625bs? You run 33s now but I looked at your build thread and at one time you had 31x10.5's on those Cepak wheels with a small 1.5" lift I think. I looked closely at that picture and because of the backspacing on the Cepak wheels, the tires stuck out a bit past the flares. Remembering back to when you had that setup, did you have any issues with that? Did the flares or rear qarter get beat up or anything?

If I change out my stockers I want these wheels and 31x10.5's... Without lift to start...but probably an OME 2" lift eventually...

EDIT: Being a noob again - asked questions without looking at your build thread first...But the questions as edited I am interested in your thoughts...

I like the DC-2 wheels. They are fairly popular on TJ's, but not to the point you wish you didn't have them. Yes, they're 15x8 with 3.625BS.

I ran the 31x10.5's on stock steel rims with no lift for a month or so.

Then I ran the 31x10.5's on the DC-2's with a 1.75" BB for two or three months. I had no problem with that setup, no rubbing the flares or tub at the rear quarter panel. I had 2" bumpstop, which came with the BB. Yes, your tires will stick out past the flares some. Mine stick out further now with the 12.5's, and there's some mud flinging when I get in the mud (IH8MUD), but I'm very happy with the look and the setup, and no rubbing with my current setup either..

You'll be fine with 31x10.5's on stock suspension and later going to a 2" OME. It's a great plan! Smart moves....unless your planning to go to 35's one day, in which case I'd go with a 4" Currie suspension lift. But that involves way more $$$$
