New Wizard / BMB tail lights?

I'm curious about the price of the kit. Round numbers yet?

Roughly 239.00 shipped for the DIY. Additional 20 to pre-wire for plug and play and I'll adjust that as time shows it isn't high enough on my end to cover the time or if too many folks pick that option. License plate relocator and license plate light kit are not here yet and price for them is TBT.

Those are just GM weather packs, you can buy the stuff to make those yourself easily. Though it might be in Blaine’s best interest to offer the parts. I know he has plenty of dealing with WPs.

Do I do the WP option on my side or give them the later female side to splice into their harness and convert to my way of doing things?

Some students who register for my courses don’t have wi-fi at home, Microsoft Word or Pages, or they can’t figure out how to use the learning software, all of which are required to take the course. They give me 1,000 excuses and I give them all the same answer.

Move into the 21st century or drop the class.

You can’t live your life pandering to every eccentric.

What Mr Blaine does is seek to accommodate every variation within a platform (and then a few common oddities like a 4” round hole). That’s all a person can do. When someone requests their special needs be met, they’re just not taking responsibility.

If you have a screen in your house or a printer, you can get the install instructions. No need for a printer. I use my iPad or iPhone sometimes in the garage. That way I have the instructions and I can search the internet if I need to. If someone made the order, presumably they have a screen.

I have two electronic means of communication. A flip phone and a desk top computer. I'll included printed instructions and that works 100% of the time.

My answer doesn’t really help - I think either is a fine option. Some folks with older models may want to keep them on Weatherpacks just so their jeep remains “year correct.” I imagine the vast majority won’t be 97 owners though so you probably should do whatever is best for you. I’d say your option should be the ‘98 factory female plugs, and maybe make a note that if they want to keep it on WPs, list out the parts they need and point them to Del City or similar to buy them.

That way they’re fully aware of the options they have. I know one thing is for sure, it’s hard for a consumer to find the factory 98 plugs, so you should probably offer those regardless since you have found a way to acquire them.

My biggest issue with them converting anything to WP is owning the correct set of crimpers for the cavity wire seals and then the pins and sockets. I'm not sure I want to open that can of worms or force anyone else to either. I gotta ponder it some more. I'll have to see what the availability is for the light side of the WP connector already pre-wired and ready to connect up like our current connector is. That is likely the best answer. Leaves the harness side intact for year correctness and only minorly annoys me to hunt down yet one more oddball fucking part.

If the lights were going to be sold plug and play most of the time, I was going to suggest that solution be you make up some 4 pin female WP to TJ connection jumper harnesses that you could have enough made ahead of time to sit on the shelf. Then the buyer could just select 97 or 98-06 on the website and 97 adds however much additional money you need to make up for supplying that harness. But, if the lights are going to be DIY most of the time, then that probably doesn’t make sense logistically. If they’re doing the wiring themselves, then they may as well wire up the one they want, rather than wire up the TJ connector only to turn around and plug it into a jumper.

I think you've missed the point...but I wouldn't waste any additional time explaining it to you as you've clearly got it all figured out and have an answer for everything....much like you did in the manual gearbox thread. Not sure what your problem is but I hope you work it out.

Evidently this is one know it all to another. 😂

All I know is no matter what solution I arrive at, someone will want it different.

I don't have other sides. I have harness side and light side.

Yeah just provide an option for us 97 guys to convert both sides to the late model connector. Just make it a pigtail and provide a couple more butt splices for a little more cash.

In my case since I'm running a pod led cube reverse/brake light I'd probably order an Amp or Deusch connector and get rid of the spade connectors I shouldn't have used the first time.

Actually think I have a 99 tail light harness around here somewhere from my frame/tub swap. Can easily steal that connector and mate it up with yours and I'd probably be good.

Glad I read this thread in full. I have the Savvy lights, but with that damn GCD flasher and have hated it since I put it in. I get more problems with it than just clicking a few extra times. Novita flasher ordered.

I definitely want that license plate relocation and plate light kit when it come available. Solves some issues for me.

P.S. Never liked the round taillight look.

I've read all of this but somehow I missed it. Why is the license plate relocation required?

The taillight housing is a wee bit larger than stock. The stock housing pinches in to smaller, at the base with the tub, relative the the actual lens. This causes a bit of clearance issues. Mr. Blaine made a good solution. I want one.

That looks really good. Need a shot at night showing the plate light working.

It finally got dark enough here. The plate light is plenty bright. (y)
