New Wizard / BMB tail lights?

…even super sticky double sided tape to aid in routing the side marker lights.
Super sticky is the understatement of the century...

If I were working again in that field the T&B would be worth it, never had a problem spending money for tools that made me money. Nothing sucks worse than fighting a tool you're using all the time. Or having it break in the middle of a job.

But as a hobbyist now, I couldn't justify it. Still wouldn't get this particular tool, especially with reviews like this.

Is a goos example of what to not buy for crimping cables dosn~t acomplish any of his intented uses,no cut copper cables 1mm thick or crim thug any electric contact!
The cheap one I linked to was an extreme example. I just thought $75 for a crimper was over the top.

The one I have is somewhere in the middle I suppose. It isn't a Harbor Freight level item but I know I didn't pay $75 for it.

Its a latter day T-bird sequencer!

I'm aware although I typed in Cougar sequencer to get the sample. I wonder what this would cost in a vehicle today?

Relocation bracket arrived today, packaging and product were both perfect

Thanks. I'm worried about that style of packaging but I'll keep using it until a problem shows up. If we have any packaging folks on here, I'd like to find a better version of the box that I put the hardware and connectors in for the tail lights. I ordered that little box from 3 different places and apparently they only make them out of the crappy corrugated stuff. Someone has to have an off the shelf offering in a better version that size.

Some days I wish I were better at finding stuff. I looked for days to find pre-cut strips of double sided tape with a high level of adhesion. The big issue nowadays is all the search engines have bastardized the names of everything to yield higher numbers of hits that you wind up with results you really don't need to see. The other problem is tapes don't really work for that. It has to be a version of adhesive transfer but almost none of those are cut to length. There are lots of sticky tapes out there, I tested a bunch of them and regardless of how sticky they are, the contact to the small diameter of the wire's surface is too small and they dislodge very easily. I needed something you could mash the wires down into to increase the surface area.

I didn't realize they would be little pieces of mouse trap glue but here we are.

The only good answer I have is to find more time to get some plug and play versions done. I don't see the value in getting folks to buy a crimper that will work and then never use it again.

Good news is they work well and as intended. Took me a little while to dislodge the cat from it, but once I got her freed we were good to go...

I doubt it's a tool any of us here will never use again (though I still wouldn't pay $75 for the crimper). I mean.. how many of us asked for the source of the non-insulated connectors (un-insulated? de-insulated? insulated less?)?

I still have a shitload of insulated crimp connectors to consume, but once they are gone I am all in on the non-insulated. Especially the step down ones.. Those are nirvana

Mine arrived today. Haven't had time to dig in very far, beyond enjoying the lens and housing. Something that hasn't quite come through in the pictures so far is how close the sizing is to the factory lens. What Blaine designed could almost be what a modern TJ would have from the factory.

Another small observation is how much has been packed into a very small space resulting in a taillight thickness of just over a 1" thick compared to 2.75" from the factory.

Then there are little things like the machining passes that create a very subtle but noticably pleasing frame around the lens. The black anodizing finish allows tiny fine details like this to show, in this case to showcase the thoroughness in every selection in the design and building process.

"Lens"... ;)

More correctly since he was referring to both of them in the plural, it would be lenses. ;) Lens is singular, there are two there.

That would be correct. I guess people tend to type "lense" for singular because the plural is "lenses"? *shrug* Beats me, but I see it a LOT.

My rig never had OE taillights so I have nothing to compare to.. Nice to see the pics for comparison

Lens vs lense.. always bothered me.
Though, not near as bad as when someone says or writes etcetera etcetera or etc etc. By definition it means that further similar items will follow so no need to saying it twice. There more more items to come?

Are the stickers for installers that can't comprehend that the side marker LEDS should face outward ?
Or will the LED tail light panel only mount correctly into the housing one way ?

The stickers are because Zorba was insistent that there exist folks dumb enough to install them or try to install them with the marker lights facing inboard. The tail light panel can be installed upside down but it will be broken in the process.

I wish the timing had worked out well enough that I could have shown the Savvy side to side with Blaine's. Unfortunately, they passed in the mail.
