New Wizard / BMB tail lights?

Interesting. When we discussed this a while back, it might have been that you said something along the lines of "Thomas and Betts crimper" and I assumed the one I bought that you just linked was the one you were using.

I have the one in the link and can confirm, it works very well. The stake closer to the snips is for Sta-kon "A" and "B" terminals which it defines as 20-18Ga and 16-14Ga if I remember right. The larger stake further away is for "C" terminals which I believe 12-10Ga. It crimps very solidly. Regardless of all that, I use the red white and blue terminals in the small spot, and the yellow ones in the big spot. It works perfectly.

The snip also cuts wires very well. Excellent tool.

When I did a search, the Thomas and Betts style came up and I likely didn't look closely enough to see if it was the exact same as mine.

I have a request into my supplier for those in black oxide. Way ahead of you.
Why does this not surprise me?

You sure you don't want to trade?

Yup.. I'm in. What's next?

These look pretty interesting. Enough so that I may snag a pair.

Ok.. hold the horses... That's a $75 crimper. What does it do better than say... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099JK6XRZ/?tag=wranglerorg-20

I definitely dig the different colored grips so you know which way is "up" and then I linked to is probably chinesium, but that is a huge difference in price.
Before you say it.. I get the difference when you make a living with a tool versus use it as weekend warrior. I have a $75 HP financial calculator that nothing replicates.. yet. But tell me the difference between the crimpers please...

Send yours back and I'll send out new ones.

The handles are longer. As for the rest, no idea.

I don't own the 75 dollar ones, they were just an example of the style.

I have a couple of sets of these. I'd guess one is even Channel Lock based on the color of the handles.

Finally got around to wiring my lights. Can’t install until tomorrow cuz I’m waiting on hardware from McMaster…not Blaine’s fault, but my own for not having std taillight mounting screws (I’ve installed 1/4-20 nutserts).

But since I haven’t seen one yet…here is a picture of the very nice wiring hardware you get. All the weather protected connectors, crimps with adhesive lined heat shrink…even super sticky double sided tape to aid in routing the side marker lights.

It’s a very complete kit and I wish more suppliers would pay attention to the things he does to make it easy on us.

For reference, it isn't necessary to clean the goo out of the countersink for the grounding screw. The housing doesn't get grounded intentionally, the screw to body connection completes the ground circuit. The rest is great. Thank you.

The reviews on the one you linked are mixed. Some said it barely crimps, some said it gets rusty and difficult to pivot in the joint, etc. The longer handles Blaine mentioned are actually a legit point. My guess is the blades on the snips will keep cutting for longer as well, though that’s just a guess. Overall I imagine both work but the $75 one will probably work better for significantly longer. I also bought mine for $60 which I’m happy about.

If you aren’t doing wiring often, then the cheap one is probably the way to go. If you are, I’d imagine the long term is better with the more expensive one. I certainly like mine and it’s my most used electrical tool by far. Probably made 100 crimps with it in the last week for a project on my truck.

If I were working again in that field the T&B would be worth it, never had a problem spending money for tools that made me money. Nothing sucks worse than fighting a tool you're using all the time. Or having it break in the middle of a job.

But as a hobbyist now, I couldn't justify it. Still wouldn't get this particular tool, especially with reviews like this.

Seems like a solid, well thought out review to me.

We have a set of T&B crimpers for small pins and sockets. They are 350ish if you buy them from most anyone online. We found them at a local electrical supply for 35 bucks.
