Hello All,

Just got a 2005 Wrangler TJ X Rocky Mountain Edition with 20,500 original miles. Mint. Silver. Stock, save for a rear bumper with jerry can add-on.

The mileage is accurate as I know the owner, who bought it new, and I've done a few trips with him over the years. There was talk of putting it on BaT, but this truck is so nice, I wanted to keep it in the 'family'. I'm not a Jeep guy, though I did have a CJ5 and CJ7 decades ago, then I transitioned into early Land Cruisers, so I'm not unaccustomed to 4x4s.

I first plan to baseline by changing all the fluids with new Mopar stuff and get new tires as it still has the original 30" ones. They look fine, but probably not safe. I'm a big believer in using OE or OEM wherever possible. Second thing is to get rid of the K&N air box filter :p

I don't have any immediate plans for a lift, though I don't rule it out. If I do a lift, I want to do it right and do everything at once: Lift, Tires, Driveshaft, Gearing, etc. Buy once, Cry Once.

This is an excellent forum and have already learned quite a lot about my new truck by reading the FAQ and searching different thread topics. I hope to learn enough to eventually be able to contribute some of the stuff I've learned over the last 40 years of off-roading and working on 4x4s.

Pix of the TJ to follow.

Cheers!

Sorry for the poor pix, but the cargo back is loaded with various accessories he bought for the TJ but never installed, and since I live in 'crime-free' Los Angeles, I didn't want to risk parking on the street and have some of the lovelies try and borrow them, so I squeezed her into the backyard.

I have a bit of cleaning/detailing to do, under the hood, as well as repaint the sliders...

Q: Is there a switch for under-hood lamp? I didn't see one with cursory search.

Interesting that the Odometer lights up when the door is opened, key out of the ignition. Never seen that before. I imagine this will time-out when the doors come off?

I gotta say, I really am a fan of the I6 4.2. Great engine. Sooooo easy to work on compared to any of the V6s I've owned.

Yeah, when I couldn't find one, I figured there was a Mercury switch or similar in the housing.

Thank you for the picture. (y)
