As title says, Need help with a TJ rebuild.
Background- We bought a frame-off restoration project about 80% complete. 2000 TJ 4.0L manual. The body harness has been run. previous owner had the light harness in a bag. We have recently realized that we needed the engine harness. With all the "information" out there, we have bought 2 wrong harnesses (one was an auto transmission and one was off a 99). neither are correct. The biggest most obvious not fit is one of the two big plus in the middle of the firewall is the wrong plug. The plugs for sensors on intake are different too.
We are just trying to figure out what will fit and then of course finding one...

Any help, thoughts, etc are appreciated.

Short of finding the exact right harness, you might just try to scavenge the right connectors from a junkyard, if you can find a TJ in a junkyard before everyone else does.

If you haven't already, check out the wiring diagrams in section 8W of the Resources section on this forum. I might start with page 8W-90 (I'm pretty sure) which is the visual listing of all the connectors. You can compare what you have in your hand to what is on the various years and cobble it together. As long as you stay pre-2003 the wiring is going to be mostly identical, with minor changes.

You also might have the right harness and the wrong aka not original engine. Jeep was going through lots of transition after 2000 and every year was slightly different.

My guess is your problems are compounded by mismatched parts.
