Hello. This is my first post. I have a 1997 jeep tj that was my father in laws. He passed away 2 years ago and my family took the jeep. It needs alot of work. There are several lines under the hood that are not attached to anything. I have a brake line (I believe its a brake line?) that is running from the rear of the jeep to the engine bay. It transitions briefly to a rubber hose (he may have done this?) Then back to a metal line...then again to rubber. It has a plastic connection in the engine bay that not connected to anything. Forgive me if im wrong with this being a brake line as I dont know much about jeeps. I have attached 2 pics. One of the severed rubber line and one of the plastic fitting in the engine bay. Please help and thanks in advance.

Yup I was just going to suggest EVAP. Might want to see if you can either blow air or suck air through the hose.

How's the frame rust?

IMHO 97 is the best year.

Frame isn't awful. But the front suspension is horrendous. Im replacing everything i can up on the front end. Its definitely going to be a project. But it will be worth it in the end. My father in law was everything to my family and kids.

I'm very happy with my Black Max shocks.

Post pictures of the front end and we might be able to make constructive suggestions.

Black Magic Brakes has the best parts.

This wont be a daily driver for me. Maybe more like a weekend warrior. If that. So I pretty much have everything picked out already and im getting ready to place that order. However...I will take suggestions on new o2 sensors. Im seeing al9tnof conflicting into on sensors that will throw codes when using them as replacements. Anyone have any suggestions on those? Im replacing the exhaust manifold and entire exhaust system.

Sorry for your loss. The Jeep will be a great way to keep him in your thoughts. Sounds like he was a great man.

They're is an entire thread on O2 sensors. NGK is probably your best bet. Some folks are having good luck with Walker.

I tried several on my 97...I don't have the factory cat...I have a 2.5 inch Magnaflow high flow...so I think it was cooking my sensors. I threw several brands at it and a 20 year old used NGK finally worked.

The ones that are Installed now arent throwing codes but I figured since im pulling everything out I may as well replace with new. Should I leave the current ones in?

heck yea, if they aren't giving you trouble leave them in. but go ahead and get a set of NGK/NTK to keep on hand for when they do.
