The version my grandson LJ wants:

The version my son would like too

I prefer the handy flag whip flags to the forever wave. I shortened mine and like having the QD mount so I can remove it easily. Easier than a zipper.

Quite a while ago, I ordered a bunch of soft shackles from @mrblaine. Shortly after I received them, Blaine reached out and asked me if I was happy with the shackles. "Well, yeah," I immediately responded, "they are well-made and work great. Very happy."

He told me he was not happy with the "hand" on the yellow compared to his other colors, and he was also not happy with how the knot came out due to the rope construction. He then sent me a shackle in green so I could see the difference he was describing.

Subsequently I've used and abused them. They work perfectly. I carry a few in all my vehicles.

Out of the blue about a week ago I get a DM from Blaine saying he had found a new supplier, and was sending me a few replacements to see what I thought.

Even though the first version was absolutely fine, these are even better. And being the simple fool that I am, I really like the brighter yellow.

I post this mainly to reenforce what a lot of us already know: Blaine is good people.
I really like the green ones. I need to order some for myself.

Oh man, that's quite the selection.

Maybe a compromise?

That said, I do like these things. The zip-on sleeve is cool.

With 3 year old kids - I think your grandkids will love nothing better than to see Bluey flying on Grandpa's (or insert name you use with your grandkids) 'Monster Truck'!

If you did go this route, and since you have impressive sowing techniques — I would add a orange banner around the edges for increased visibility... And - if you're expecting to be out near dusk or down, maybe sow in some reflectiveness.

But I think the kids will love the hit to the 'man ego' vs the Grandpa ego! ;) (y)

Well, I was gettin' nervous as to whether it would be here in time for the Sand Hollow trip, but my new flag showed up just in time...

For anyone interested, this is from ForeverWave, which is the place Ryan posted about.

https://foreverwave.com/product-category/jeeps/sleeve/

About $50 shipped. Appears to be very good quality, with a cool zipper system to attach the flag to the FireStick antenna for which it was designed.

5 Stars. Would recommend.

:)

And in other news, I'm packing up this afternoon to meet Victor ( @gasiorv ) to wheel Golden Mountain Park, which is between Nashville and Knoxville. Cool place, with a bunch of hardcore stuff. Hopefully Vic will take it easy on me.

I'm trying something different this time:

These stickies have proven to be pretty tough so far, so at least for this park I'm comfortable leaving the spare in the truck. We'll see how it goes.

All packed up. This may be the last trip for this trailer. Hopefully no flats this weekend...

Looking forward to to hearing if you see any difference wheeling spareless.

Did you have to adjust the pre-load on the coilovers for the weight change?

Yesterday I met up with Victor and Beeker to wheel Golden Mountain Park in Sparta, TN. The park is not very big - but packed with a bunch of hard-code trails.

It rained Friday night, so the first part of Saturday was damp and slick - but not terribly muddy. Heavy fog in the early morning, but it cleared out quickly and turned into an absolutely beautiful day for wheelin'.

There was a lot of this...

...and a lot of this:

We spent a lot of the day fighting for traction, and the hard-core stuff was even more challenging than usual.

It was too slick to even think about Hellivator:

But the bypass was no walk in the park. After a steering problem took Vic's rig out of the game around lunch time, he and his son piled into my rig for the rest of the day. Here is Vic doing the bypass in my rig.

Here is Victor hitting The Squeeze - and if you can't tell by the video, it is aptly named.

Victor is a master, and one of the most talented wheelers I've ever known. Here he is in my rig - unfamiliar to him - and making this very tough and dangerous obstacle look easy:

We also ran the Bounty Hill Ledge. Here it is looking down from the top:

And here is Vic coming up from the bottom:

And Beeker hitting it - you can get a good perspective of the ledge from this video:

This is a very cool obstacle. It was still pretty slick as I said, and we both wound up winching the very last ledge.

Jeff, Thanks for coming and wheeling with us and thanks for letting me and Christian ride along after my jeep broke. I know you like the write-ups to see the trails run (even though I know you captured it all on OnX this time) so I posted it in the wheeling pics section.

Having the opportunity to not only ride in Jeff's jeep but also to wheel it I can say that it works as good as it looks. Kudos!
