I know there is going to be somebody say, it’s a 300k mustang durrrr…calm down Francis!!

Now that we have that out of the way, the GTD has lapped the ring in 6:57, which is faster than ANY American car to date. And if you read the article it is the 5th fastest in the production sports car category to date.

Is there anyone on this forum going to get 1, probably not. But the fact Ford has even built this car, which technically is a production car is amazing. Combine this with the upcoming ZR1 and it’s a great time to be a car enthusiast.

I posted this in the other thread but I’ll post it again here.

They say it was sub optimal conditions and they plan to go faster.

It’s a 300k Mustang!

I love Mustangs

Technically, $325K ;) ....for that much I think I'd go for one of these....

...and bank the remaining 75K to cover insuring it... :D

my step dad has had every modern gt500, gt350 and gt350r thats been sold to date and hes still unable to get an allocation. seems only the ford gt owners will get a chance to own this. (he was declined for that as well)

its a real shame. this is the ultimate mustang by far.

I’ll be surprised if I ever see one.

Ford GT’s are rarely seen in the wild. I did see the 2006 version at Home Depot once and I recently saw one of the new ones parked at a restaurant.

Now that would be a hoot!

The Type 35 wasn't the most successful GP car and racing car in history for nuthin'... (y)

The Type 35 was phenomenally successful, winning over 1,000 races in its time. It took the Grand Prix World Championship in 1926 after winning 351 races and setting 47 records in the two prior years. At its height the Type 35 averaged 14 race wins per week. Bugatti won the Targa Florio for five consecutive years, from 1925 through 1929, with the Type 35

Of course, you don't get an original Type 35 for a quarter schmill (typical price range for an original is $1-$5.5m, avg. $2m), but most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between one and the Pursang as they literally build them the same as back in the day. Functional works of art.

And here:

And now you can see it here….

As I said in he OP: no, we won’t ever have one but it’s awesome it’s being made. You know, kind of like the win on Sunday sale on Monday days of nascar…I don’t remember seeing those on the road either. :ROFLMAO:

I look forward to the ZR1 times, good to see the Chevy and Ford rivalry still going.

Without the Camaro the rivalry is only for the rich.

I don’t understand this mentality at all. Can you afford a Porsche gt3 rs? Maybe you can, I don’t know…is it great they make them? Hell yes. It’s all trickle down engineering, look at the progression of any car, parts of the engineers crazy ideas seem to find their way into the cars we CAN afford.

A $50,000 Mustang GT equipped with a transaxle and and toss on the warrantied whipple option is hopefully coming.

But, what competes with that from any of the big 3 now?

Someone on a different forum claims they have one on the way. They have a Shelby collection, including a Daytona. They also have a Code Red being built.

Thing is having the money wasn’t enough to put your name on one. Have to be connected or an influencer of some sort.

True- know a guy that is in line for the new hopped up Vette- it was relationship that got him on the list and that this is his 3rd C8 purchase.

Ferrari does something like this too I believe. I’ve not tried ordering one to be certain but I think previous ownership makes it easier to get an order allocation.
