Couldent resist after decades of wrenching and seeing what parts have become. Monroe Steering stabilizers. Bought one for our F250 off R/A. Seems Monroe forget the fluid, no damping thru 50% of its stroke. #2, One for a 99 TJ, 250 miles/4 months later, and the seals are shot and the fluid is leaking out. Past warranty according to R/A. More scrap metal I recon.

It used to be that the cheap parts "worked" but for an incredibly short time. Now it seems even "decent" parts can be complete shit right out of the box.

I put a set of Monroe "OE Spectra" (or whatever they're called) on two different vehicles about 10 years ago and both gave up within 15,000 miles. I've considered Monroe to be bottom-of-the-barrel since then.

Yabutt....Im thinking monroe probably makes some of the jeep shocks used. Lots of names, few manufacturers Id guess.

Outsourcing, part of the globalization plan, rather than nationalism, Trump’s plan. Would be nice to bring things back home even if they are more expensive. Will be worth it.

Remember when we were told making stuff in China would save us all lots of money. RE: Moog, curious if the timing is right as to when the general consensus was Moog became china junk?

There's a balance to be struck, but right now, and for the past few decades, that balance has been very one-sided. We definitely need to bring some manufacturing back, especially strategically important stuff, like the production of metals, which as I understand was basically shutdown by the EPA.

Ok, I'll throw my shade at them now...

On our STREET DRIVEN 2003 w/ 100% STOCK suspension, wheels, tires, etc. we were experiencing a really soft & bouncy rear end.
W/ over 150K on the odometer, I knew it was time for shocks.
I searched for OEM replacement options and found the Monroe to be a great candidate, so I ordered a set.

Installed them and within 500 STREET DRIVEN miles the right rear had blown a seal and failed.
The online seller wouldn't honor any warranty because I installed them myself rather than at a shop.

I reached out direct to Tenneco and was able to get a replacement unit under warranty.

Installed it and again, within 500 STREET DRIVEN miles, it also failed.

That's when I decided to just add a lift w/ new springs, bushings, shocks, etc.

I will NEVER buy another Monroe (Tenneco) product.

Dang, I sent Monroe a email to the tech dept today and see what happens. R/A says no refund or exchange after 30 days and must be in the original packaging. Sheeeet...If I save every original box from stuff I bought we'd look like hoarders of boxes.
