Pritchett. I suggest splitting that up a bit more, perhaps setting up a separate start time for each group - maybe separated by an hour or two. Even with the proposed “first group takes off after finishing the obstacle” approach, the problem with Pritchett is that since the obstacles are so close to each other, this will still wind up like trying to run it with 15 trucks.

My two cents. Interested in what others think, so please chime in.

Pritchett always seems to invite some issue that makes it take a lot longer to complete it than it should.

There's just as good of a chance that the second group never sees the first group after a couple obstacles as there is that the second group needs to pass the first group because someone had an issue that needs to be fixed such as a tire or ujoint.

However, if some prefer to sleep in and start later then it's always an option.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together, Trevor. This is quite the “herding cats” task.

A couple things:

Thomas and I will not be doing Fins/Hells on Monday. We are currently planning on wheeling with some other buddies that day.

Cliffhanger:
9 Jeeps. I don't think it makes sense to split into multiple groups since it is an out-and-back and a one-way. Group 1 would end up waiting for group 2 at the turnaround point anyways. We'll meet at the Captain Ahab/HyMasa Trailhead parking lot, and start driving at 8am.

@Apparition, @Beestinger, @macleanflood, @MagnumV8, @Woodrow, @Wildman, @hosejockey61, @Bob in Texas, @inkedrose

Behind the Rocks: Trent. Or he might do something else, since no one else is going.

Something else: Lonely @notnsuv

Is Cliffhanger any nastier than MM or the Trifecta that I'm signed up for?

Ummm it is probably the harder of the 3 I think? Though I'd say you would definitely be able to do it with your build, driving ability allowing

I did watch one YoutTube video of CH. Guy in a JKU 2" lift on 38s who bottomed out coming up (I guess he was going for the LCG build:unsure:).
I'm guessing I have more clearance than he.
Unless I show up earlier than Saturday CH would be my first ever trail in Moab (or any significant rocks for that matter). Has to have been thousands of folks survive that trip.. I can drive but the stick will be interesting - just a matter of choosing the right gear from the bottom of an obstacle - and maybe some hand throttle action or at least remembering the clutch doesn't need to go all the way to the floor to change gears. 😅. Or I'll find the guy with NSG370/35s/5.13 and just follow him and get pointers on the radidio.
Sure as shit ain't sitting around in a pickup camper or shopping for "I did Moab" t-shirts. Or trying to pick up chicks at the Social Security office🤩

"Lonely".

That's a lot of imogis.

Not the easiest start that's for sure... And no turning around lol. I drive stick too. Don't be afraid to slip the clutch, is better than jerking around. Can be useful to get used to finding the point where you can keep the Jeep stopped just with your clutch foot too. Though not a lot of time to practice by now

Oof. Tough trail to start on!
You've quite the group going with you, so should have plenty of good guidance! I know @Apparition has LOTS of Moab experience 👍

Looking forward to hearing your experiences, and to the trip on general — will be great fun!

My question was about Cliffhanger vs. Trifecta and MM.
Now I have to go look closer at Steelbender.:D

You can make any of them harder than they need to be.

Cliffhanger - I think it gets most of the rating due to the cliffhanger obstacle being on the cliff, more of a fear factor. It's not that bad, I've never heard of anyone actually going over the cliff so probability of that is near zero, there's more room than pictures show and you'd have to be pretty reckless or careless to have it come into play. There are a handful of climbs at most that could need a bit of attention but nothing to worry about with this group. The first time I ran Cliffhanger I did it solo and expected to see others out on it, didn't see another sole that day, do not recommend as I found out there are no winch points. Seemed easier the next time I did it but that's pretty common for Moab obstacles.

Other than Pritchett, I don't consider any of the trails particularly difficult for a locked TJ in Moab. There are no alternate lines on Pritchett but for the most part these other trails have optional lines and optional obstacles. And once one jeep is up we have a winch point if needed and it's not a big deal if we need to use them. Staying safe and keeping your jeep in good running condition is more important than taking a risk that you're not comfortable with.
