Might need to get snow tires

Does a X have a LSD.

The closest I've come.to wrecking my Jeep was braking and have the LSD lock up and switch the rear end for the front as I slid through the intersection.

Honestly , If I was buying a set of winter tires and wheels , the best bang for the buck is a P235-75R / 15 . in a DuraTrac RT. These are great tires in snow , and are an A/T tires so they don't wear out quickly like a winter tire.

Just want to double check before I order the DuraTrac RT. That’s probably the best route for me overall right?

Yes. Thats a 29"x9.25" R15 tire. I ran the previous original Duratrac on my TJ and the RT is said to be improved in snow. The OG Duratrac was the best on snow I've had on the TJ at that time.

I just switched over to the KO3 in Sept and MAYBE tomorrow I'll have my first chance to try them on snow. I run larger 285/75R16 "33s" on my 04 Rubicon.

They aren't the cheapest tire out there , but they are the best all around tire with superior snow performance . Much better than KO-2's in snow.

And so it begins. I70 Westbound. Watkins.
I didn't capture the truck that rolled up the hill.

Somebody needs some new undies.

I-70 was a mess yesterday.

I got a chance to really try out the KO3s yesterday in Golden and the KO3s are good, but I suspect the Duratrac RTs are still better.

BFG was said to have focused on resolving the rain channeling issues with the KO2 in the KO3 design. Rain and snow handling aren't directly correlated. I went from T/A KO (1) to the original Duratrac to T/A KO3 so I never spent time on the KO2s and can't tell you how they compare.

I'd say the T/A KO3 are probably on par with the old Duratrac (not RT), maybe a little behind on lateral grip in sloppier snow, a little ahead on drive and braking grip. But I only have about 1500 miles on these right now.

I’m in Colorado Springs. I have new, but cheap Walmart A/T “summit trail climbers”… they work fine for just driving around in normal weather, but I don’t think they grip snow that great. They are 31s.

I have some sandbags over the rear axle to help a bit. But I think it might be a good idea to find a cheap full set of wheels and get some actual winter tires. Any advice on where to get wheels cheap? And what size should I get if I get snow tires? 31 or a different size?
should I get some tire chains for emergencies? (any particular type).

It doesn't snow enough in Colorado to invest in snow tires. Short wheel base is going to want to spin on ice with any tires. For streets thinner is better, wider the tire it starts working like snow shoes instead of biting in.
