Mid-arm LJ Rubicon

Hahah i’m hopefully it won’t. Driving by braille is not my style 😂 not afraid to use it either!

Hey, as long as you have a good spotter and pick the right line, you might be able to be unscathed.

Look at Floyd Mayweather. That guy managed to go his entire boxing career without ever really getting that beat up.

Spotter and a good line is definitely half the battle. Not much into boxing, but sounds like a comparison I could get behind haha.

I’ve got to keep it in one piece so I can get back to Moab for the TJ Fest and show you around a few trails. I’ve been on just about all of them *Not in my own Jeep, but as a passenger or a very young driver. This will be my 24th Jeep Safari, with countless Moab trips in between. I’ve been going since I was born.

First trip out with the mid arm was great! No issues at all. Everything performed flawlessly. I am very happy with how well the kit preformed. From off camber stability, to near vertical climbs, and scoring a 950 on the poser Metalcloak CTI trailer.
Great trip to say the least. Those going to TJ fest, look into running “the pickle and mashed potatoes” shorter trails but great ones.

Jeep looks awesome and it's very cool to see it get used for what it was intended for. This is an upgrade I'm hoping to do to my LJ, at some point in the future! (y)

I see references to the CTI trailer all the time, with scores thrown around...but no reference to how good a score is. What is the "max" Corner travel index? I know its all bogus anyway, but it would be nice to see what a 950 compares to? Like, is it 95% of their max travel or what?

I was thinking lite brite was something like 1100

Honestly no idea. I have always heard 1000 is a good score 🤷‍♀️

Who is lite brite?! Haha I’m missing the reference here.

My build has been slow the past couple months. I’ve had a few more wheeling trips to local trails. Everything has been performing great...well besides the stock steering. I knew I was pushing my luck there. I’ve been collecting parts to do a WJ knuckle and brake swap. I thought long and hard about the WJ swap vs. the Currie correct link. I really liked the idea of the WJ swap because of the steering geometry, and the added bonus of bigger brakes. I do like the fact that the Currie link is proven and works, But I’d still be out big brakes (a Vanco BB kit & Currie steering is out of my budget)

The WJ swap won due to the fact I gain bigger brakes. There is a little more fab time in the WJ swap but I’m willing to put in the needed effort to get it right.

Most parts were ordered from Barnes 4WD. I opted to go with the 1ton offset TRE’s. My tie rod and drag link will be 1.5”x .250 DOM. While the track bar is going to be made from 1.25”x .281”. This 1.25”x .281” wall will be perfect for taping a 3/4” heim on the axle side. Then a weld on JJ for the frame side.

I’m very excited to get this project started!
