I am replacing my old Rubicon Express front upper control arms with MetalCloak arms that are supposed to be a direct swap... I am assuming I got the wrong arm type?

They are at the shortest point now and still longer than what I have, the bolt hole in the joint is too big too.

Reach out to MC, ask about the bolt hole as they do have a big bolt kit too. They have great customer service!

Did they send you new bolts?

Yep, already emailed them so hoping to get an answer on Monday... bummer because I was hoping to get them swapped out this weekend.

I run their double adjustable ones and so far I have been happy with them.

What’s the length from bolt center to bolt center, is there a chance your existing ones were just short? I have the double adjustable ones with the 2.5 OME lift and my lengths are about 15.5in.

So I was doing a lot of reading last night, trying to figure this out. I have the Enduro long arms, so they are using short upper arms and long lower arms as a hybrid setup. Honestly, until last night, I didn't understand the problems associated with this set up. As I have been researching this more, I am realizing this is why my joints are failing so quickly - this set up puts a lot of tension on those upper joints. I think I am going to bite the bullet and convert the rear to the Pro upper long arms — as I already chewed up a 4 month old rear sway bar bushing.

On the front, I am pretty sure that the correct swap for the Enduro upper shorts in the front is the Duroflex Product ID 7051. I will see how they workout. I'd rather not have to do the conversion up front too, as both require some welding that I cannot do... so that means $$$$

Agreed, that dimension is consistent with RE's installation instructions (see attachment), with this initial setting specified:

My buddy and I both have TJs equipped with RE L-A kits on which the control arm bushings are shot. Replacement MC Control Arm Upgrade Kits are "in cart" right now, with their Veteran's Day sale set to end tonight. Having combo of the original RE installation instructions pdf as well as RE's own instructions will be helpful for our planned DIY swap...

I run a full set of these single adjustables. I did the swap from stock arms to them and they were shorter than stock and had to be extended a bit.

I wonder if the previous setup on your front axle achieved the desired caster by shortening the uppers instead of lengthening the lowers. I'm sorry I don't have the stock control arm lengths handy.

And then your post came through as I was typing. Ohhh... We're playing a different ballgame

Duroflex 7051's on the way... hopefully they are an exact fit

realized I never followed up on this one - those MetalCloak Duroflex 7051 arms are an exact fit for the upper arms on the Teraflex Enduro long arm kit. So, don't attempt to use the radius arms, they won't fit.
