M/T tire recommendation

I know its the most hated tire
I personally hate the way they look. And it seems like for every person that loves them, there's one that hates them, so it's so hard to get a good read on them without running them for yourself. Which is obviously a big cost and risk, so I think that keeps a lot of people away. Maybe when they take what they've learned from the original and the MT02, they'll come out with an updated version that looks better but still has a reasonable cost.
I buy tires so infrequently that I'd rather spend just a little more for peace of mind.
I've been running the Nitto Trail Grappler for a few years. Very happy with how they handle on rocks. No chunking and seem to grip well. Good ride on the highway to and from the trails as well. Still my top choice. Though if they are out of them when I need them again (hard to find a few years ago), I would go with the MT Baja Boss MT.
Used to have the Goodyear MTR. They were great on the trail, but awful on the street.
I ran the Cooper STT Pro for a couple years. Those worked well for a hybrid tire (not a real MT). Only got rid of them because I moved up from a 35" to a 37". Sold them to a friend and he is still running them.

I’ve had the Nitto Mud Grapplers that are phenomenal in the mud but are very heavy, wide and loud. I think you’d have to move to 33x13.50 however. Oh and the sidewalls are VERY stiff on them.

TSL SX tires are good true mud tires.
Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS
Those were both biased ply tires so ride rougher and wear faster than radial tires.
Toyo M/T is a radial tire but also heavier than some others.

If you want aggressive but DOT then Interco is your best option. Ground Hawgs are great in the mud

The TSL SX or SX II are good tires. And so are the IRocks... And then of course the regular TSL tire is a good mud tire. You can get some of them in a radial design too.
The tires in that last picture with my Nissan truck are Ground Hawgs. I had Toyo M/T's on my TJ before if that is what you're talking about.
There are a few members who have the Baja Boss M/T's and like them a lot.
I was going to say Thornbirds but never knew until now that they're bias-ply. I've always loved how obnoxious they are!
Hopefully prices settle down for them. The tariffs have added about $100-$150CAD extra for each tire..
Thornbirds SUCK IMO and most others I've spoken with who ran them... My Samurai had them on it when I bought it. I could pull the valve stems out and they still never flexed.
With a lightweight samurai I'm not surprised. I've never heard a single good review on them!
They do sound cool (for a second) probably about like your Pro XS. Maybe they're good in serious mud, but I have no desire to be in the mud. Mud was fun when I was a kid, and then you realize how expensive it gets.

Well we live in the PNW so mud is sort of part of the terrain... I don't LOVE it like I used to but I don't avoid it either. I'm really interested in seeing how well the M/T Baja Pro XS do over time.
Boggers are what sound COOL & feel COOL too on the street.
Any of these more aggressive tires are only good for maybe 15K miles MAX if driven on the street.
