Looking for recommendations for a mud/ rocky environment tire. 33” x 12.5. Currently have AT tires. Need something more aggressive.

I have 35x12.5x17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT on my Gladiator. They’ve been a very good tire in mud and rocks, just not ice, for nearly 60k miles now… I’d say the are a great tire!

Been on lots of rugged 4WD trails with folks running BFG ATs who went through the same obstacles as folks running various manufacturer MTs. I guess it depends upon your specific environment.
Correct... we put Falken Wildpeak AT3W 33x12.5x15 on the TJ, and had no trouble keeping up with the other TJ's at Stoney Lonesome while raining last year...

I've always been a BFG guy but I just mounted up a set of 33"x10.5" Mickey Thompson Baja Legends, replacing 31"x10.5 BFG MTs. I almost went with the BFGs, just out of habit. But, they were considerably more expensive in that size. Definitely pay attention to the Load Range! I almost bought the heavier, stiffer version. IMO, the Mickey Thompson are way quieter than a BFG.
IDK what part of NC the OP is in, but most of our state has a red clay that is heavy and slick as a banana peel when wet. I love KO2s until I have real mud to deal with, which really needs tires with big cleats and wheel speed around here. Lots of guys run BFG M/Ts and seem to do fine, or at least better in the mud. I guess it really depends on what the OP considered to be mud and how often.

Went with the STT-Pros due to availability and previous experience. They never let me down.
IMHO - Falken Wildpeaks are better road tires. But, for durability, looks and getting you out of a jam (you’ll most likely never need your winch) STT Pros.

It does get slick. Lots of guys are running BFG M/Ts there. I'd guess any standard M/T tire will be fine.
Not yet, they will be my next tire purchase. Im running Kenda klever MT's now and they are lasting good.

I went with the Discoverer SST Pro (in 32"), and it was like a cheat code. They are amazing in the wet slippery Oregon woods.
They were very quiet on-road as well, but now that they have a couple k on them, I do notice a bit more road noise. I would definitely get another set.

Another vote for STT Pros. I've written it on here before, but on my second set on my truck and never had a single complaint. Got 70k+ out of the first set of a 1/2 ton that's used as a hunting, fishing, and camping rig. I've tried talking myself into something different for my TJ, just to try something different. But will likely go with them as they're just too good in my opinion. They've handled wet winters, deep snow, light snow, light/moderate mud, rocky trails (not rock crawling), and highway miles with towing. Never had a complaint or worry. Got one screw in one, but it bent and didn't go through the lug. Pulled it out and never thought about it again.
They lasted longer than the Jeep.
