Colorado Krew Hangout

Wife said she wanted to go for a Jeep ride this morning instead of riding motorcycles, so did an impromptu trip to Bunce, Iron Clads and T33. Nice and cool with a little rain led to a couple moose sightings. Fun day in the mountains with tacos and margs in Lyons for dinner, can’t complain about that. GREAT Sunday!

How was snow on ironclads? Punched through last month but it was deep! Had to pull line to get through snow bank up top. Guessing it’s mostly gone?

Yeah, no snow to mention. I ran it the weekend before Memorial Day too and don’t remember there being much snow then either.

i’ll see about a day i can take my son up there. i’ve got to pick up something for nugget today otherwise i would make that run today.

also mama comes home tonight so i need to make sure the house is up to par.

I usually like seeing the terrain from the crash sites and then researching why they went down.

for six years i was hunting a crash site down in Alaska that was a recreation of an early incident. the second time was all hands lost

The story of this one, training flight ran out of Fuel, not accounting for a Very strong head wind. landed in a clearing.

when the pilot went out for an incident flight. which the instructor is to put you in the same scenario, they repeated almost identically, but they didn’t survive the second crash.

only found that second crash once. and it was by luck. becasue there was hardly anything to visually realize your looking at a former airplane.

I’ve also got the Infamous bus west of Healy. made famous by that dumbass movie into the wild.

this was when they were airlifting it out to the museum in Fairbanks. tired of doing body recoveries. from tourists getting swept away by the river.

I wanted to go see that but I settled for getting my pic in front of the one at the 49th State Brewery. The beer and crab were delicious by the way.

I do enjoy that movie.

@Apparition And that was the bus they used in the movie BTW. I believe the 49th Brewery bought it after filming. Knowing it would be a good asset to have on site.

I think last time I was up that far was 2011. Stayed near it prior to camping out at Wonder Lake for the next couple days. Sad to hear it's changed.

Yes, I believe you are correct. I tried to recreate the famous pic, no idea where mine went.

Just like my photos i’m trying to find the photos where i got low over the bus. I could only get down to 200’ there was a camper in the bus and had his laundry out. can’t have that flying up into my rotor head.

I’m actually not a fan of digital. lost everything from 1999-2015 or so

I'm sure my pics are on a computer backup at home. I think I was running blackberry back then, I didn't upload old photos to my iphone.
