Oh you have to walk to the plane? Gross. Always wanted to see it but that's always been pretty far from me
I ran T-33 yesterday. Seems like they graded the trail all the way up, more of a fire trail than anything now. Maybe so it’s easier for SXS rentals? Either way kind of a bummer it was a fun close trail
Long time lurker, first time poster here, thought I’d introduce myself. Name is Josh, up Northeast of FOCO. Been in the Jeep scene for a long time. Have had my 99 TJ since new in 98. Was pretty active on JU and Pirate in the late 90’s/early 2000’s, co-dawg’d for a XRRA team for a few years, then rolled my TJ in 2007 and it sat for 11 years. Got busy with life, had kids, bought a house, got into single track dirt biking for awhile. In 2018 decided to rebuild my TJ with my son. Got it back to normal size on 35’s instead of 40’s and did some light wheeling with him.
Always wanted a LJ so I was going to TJ-6 it but decided to just buy a LJ and keep the TJ for my son. Bought this 2006 that had a ton of miles but was super clean and was pretty much bone stock. Seats and carpet had been replaced but otherwise original. Ever since racing I get bored with underpowered jeeps and this thing with 250k on the clock was a perfect candidate for a LS swap, so that’s what I did and it’s an absolute blast. Got the swap mostly done just before Christmas, went to Moab for a few days in March and ran a few local trails lately but seriously have the Jeep bug again.
Looking forward to more trails and meeting some new folks. Long term goals are JKR axle swap and outboard shocks front and rear with Fox tuneables so hope to run into one of you that have done it to check it out. Looking forward to tagging along on some trail rides and if anyone finds themselves up north wanting to talk Jeeps and have a beer hit me up.

Man, that's too bad to hear. I had planned to get up there this morning but the weather put me off. I found the trail a little challenging the last time I ran it (on 31s), but I really enjoyed it. Lots of good ledges to climb. How disappointing!

I think you've tackled the harder and more technical trails and now this one just bores in comparison![]()

It does take a bit of a perspective shift to still have fun on the easier trails now knowing you won't come across anything even remotely difficult or exciting. I like to bring snacks and a book and know I'm gonna spend a lot of time entertaining the dog or checking out views to make those dirt road outings fun still
There’d some fun stuff near foco.. my girl lives up there. I’m pretty much always down to head out
Yeah, not too bad. Once Sevenmile opens I want to head up there and run that. Haven’t seen it since before the fire so want to see how different it is. Usually loop in Kelly Flats and/or Bald Mountain too. I’ll post up when I’m going to do that. I think it opens on the 15th.
Pretty sure 7mile is clear all the way through, Kelly Flats is still waiting to be opened. Moody is up that way too, theres a cool little rock quarry part way up
Sevenmile is closed for mud season right now, Kelly opened on May 15. Moody is closed until June 15. In college I bet ran Moody and Crystal Mountain once or twice a week, used to love those trails. Too bad they closed Crystal, was an awesome trail. I’ve heard grumblings from the dirtbike club that there’s progress there but not sure if it’s just single track to connect the Danner/Lookout Mountain single tracks or if they’re working on reopening the jeep trail.
The quarry is fun, here’s circa 2001.

Dug out a bit since then. That whole Cameron peak area has been nuts since the fire. Looked like a Tim Burton forest… very surreal. Been cool seeing nature reclaiming year to year
