My jeep is my daily driver. Left for 4 months for a job. Got back and drove the jeep with no issues for a week. Driving home a few nights ago I heard and felt this weird knock/pop and violent shake on a tight turn out of a parking lot. Over the past 3 days it has gotten worse and worse. The symptoms are most noticeable when in 2WD and turning. Still occurs when driving straight at roughly 40mph in 2WD, just much less frequently. Also Much less noticeable when in 4wd. It’s difficult to tell whether the shake/knock is coming from the front or rear. The vibrations honestly feel like it’s right underneath you. Any help in diagnosis is much appreciated. Will upload a video when I figure out this error message I’m getting

The easiest way to add a video is upload to YouTube and link it here.

Check the U-joints in the driveshafts and front axle shafts for play/looseness for starters.

Sounds like bad axle joints or ball joints. Jack up the front and grab your tires at the top and bottom and try to move them. If they move you need ball joints . The way you describe it I'm betting axle joints

Kind of confused. Are you saying my tires shouldn’t move at all? I’ve looked for play in my tires U joints and driveshaft but everything seems normal. Tomorrow I’m going to take a look at the rear axle driveshaft. I’ve also noticed that I’m missing two bolts and bushing for my skid plate mount that holds the transmission. Any chance this could be contributing to the problem. Thanks for the help

Here is a link for a video so you guys know what I’m referring too. This is me trying to slightly turn the wheel while backing up. The shaking is so violent that the dash is coming apart around the stereo.

In that video you aren't even moving ! You said when driving.

In the video I’m idling and on the brake. Might not look like I’m moving, but I promise I’m just going slow. It’s normally not that severe, but I cranked the wheel so that you can actually hear it in the video. It gets less severe the less you crank the wheel. Do you have any ideas triton?

Jack up the front and put it on stands. then turn wheels to the right, rotate wheels both directions looking/feeling for binding in the joints. Try grabbing shafts to feel for any play. Then Turn wheels to the left and repeat.

I wouldn’t suspect DS, since your barely moving in your video.

If your trans mount is missing bolts, and has no bushing, I’d suspect you’d have worn motor mounts, too. Obviously if it’s missing or worn, it may be time to replace. Definitely would avoid driving it, until fixed.
