Any actual first hand knowledge of how thus stuff works? I'm guessing it is similar to POR15 but it seems to need fewer and less fussy prep. Found some rust under the Rubicon diamond plate and want something more durable than just paint. Thanks for any info.

I plan on getting a whole bunch of experience soon. I have their large chassis kit sitting in the shop. I have a couple of buddies who have used it, and they both said it works really well.

Have you used the KBS stuff yet? I gave it my first go yesterday on a few small rust spots on my stock tire carrier just to get my feet wet. It seems like good stuff, although obviously I don't know how well it will actually hold up but it seems pretty solid.

I had two possible issues:

I don't think my can of paint was sealed properly so I almost had to wreck the lid to get it open, hopefully I can get it off when I got to do my real project.

Second, they said to put on two thin coats but the paint seemed really thick and I could only lay it on pretty thick. It wasn't very warm here yesterday and it took a long time to dry and looking at it this morning there are some bubbles in the paint which makes me think it didn't adhere properly.

Looking to hear any thoughts you or anyone else might have.

I thought it worked really well. Here are some pictures of my project. The ones that look rusty are the ones I took after the cleaning and acid etch process.

I have used it and works great. Need to prep well first, if you want it to last. I did the front bumper with base and their top coat and a year later it still looks great after a lot of salt this winter. The frame parts I cleaned up and painted with it have held up as well.

Edit: Also used their top coat aerosol to cover POR15 and it works great for that as well.

I'm not familiar with KBS but I've been using POR15 for years. I buy it by the quart can and transfer it to small "job size" jars that I get at Dollarama. It's best to fill the jars to the top and leave as little air inside as possible. I just toss the jars when I'm done.

Worked on coating some more stuff today. I doubled up some plastic wrap and hammered the can closed with a piece of wood as a buffer of course, the lid came off fine and the paint looked perfect after sitting for a few days. I used a foam brush today cause thats all I had and I think it worked better than a traditional brush. Just a couple pointers for someone else in the future.
