Hey everyone,

Was hoping for some help with this situation. I bought my TJ a few years ago and the door handles were pretty rotted. Replaced the interior and exterior handles, and the exterior handles are holding up great. The interior handles are plastic, but you have to pull them pretty far to catch the door latch and be able to open it. This has caused the plastic handles to snap on each door twice now. Was wondering if anyone had any advice on a) where to buy metal door handles that will hold up better or b) how to fix the interior mechanism so that the handles dont need to be pulled as far to open the door.

Thanks in advance

It's been awhile since I've had mine apart, so I'm relying on my old man memory, but I think there were some adjustments on the actuator rod ends. Perhaps you could adjust those so that you don't have to pull the handles so far. They could be so far out of adjustment that the lever bottoms out just as the latch moves. This would put a lot of stress on the handle.
