Story: I ordered a JB conversions SSYE for my 231 a few weeks ago. This weekend I cracked open the T case on my 97 tj to install my kit. installed all the way to then end when I realized my housing is missing the speedo sensor with pigtail like the guide I was following. Pic of what I got below. Up until this point the install went flawlessly. (also did a terra flex 2 low kit). I check the website and sure enough, the 241c kit is what I have.

My hope is that the solution here is JB conversions ships out the right housing and I don't have to get back in the case and replace everything. Anyone have guidance on this?

Can you share what the guide shows/expects you to have?

The rear housing in the instructions is not threaded and has a small bolt hole to the side to secure the speedometer sensor. Also should note that the kit is supposed to include the sensor which I do not have.

UPDATE

I spoke with the folks over at JB Conversions this afternoon. First and foremost, I do not want this post to steer people away from them in anyway. They were quick to answer my questions and are sending the correct rear housing, tone ring and sensor.

To answer the original question I asked, yes 241c and 231 shafts are the same.

There are some internals that you can swap around on the front half (ie as long as you match the year break the planetary can be swapped around and the output shaft is the same on the outside between the 2, the only difference is spline count) The planetary are swappable as well as input shafts can be swapped around between a 231 and 241 (and many others). Interesting to know the output shaft is the same in regards to what comes in a SYE kit.

I am building a NP242J to put behind a GM 6L80 and so I just got a cheap junk 246C from a 4L80 equipped Silverado and took the 6-pinion planetary and 32 spline input shaft it came with to put into the 242J but should also fit into a 231J in the same way. These NP transfer cases seem to share a lot of internal parts.

I lucked out! I was not looking forward to cracking open the T case again.

Any fresh feedback on your T case. I was looking at doing the same SYE kit from JB conversions, and was also considering the Terra low kit.
Anything you’d do differently?

No nothing id do differently. It a very nice setup. Get a good cable shift kit. I ordered my driveshaft from Tom Woods as well, no complaints there they're great folks.
