I've got a 3D scanner and a TJ, what to scan?

I've got a buddy that let me borrow his 3d scanner. I'm going to be scanning a couple things to see if I can justify dropping the coin on a nice one.
Are there any areas that anyone wants scanned? Its gotta be fairly small with this one, and its not going to be super accurate as its a lower end scanner. I've got an 04 TJ Rubicon and I'm willing to give some things a whack with this bugger while I have it. Temper your expectations though.

If you want a scan, take a picture of the area and post it, then I'll see what I can do. No promises, but I'll see if I can make it work.

I need a fan switch and a open/release handle for the glove box, if you want to try those. Mine is a 98 TJ.
Thanks, Bill

I don't think I can do anything with the release handle, I'd have to disassemble mine and I'm not willing to tear that one apart.

I will give the knob a shot though!

I snagged a scan of the upper drivers side corner of the dashboard so far. The vent turned out wonky because I took this in 4 scans and it REALLY didn't like the grating. I've had better luck on small stuff so far.

Here is a link to the file should anyone want it. It has some of the door features in it, enough to design a speaker/switch/gauge pod.
I'll have some more scans rolling in as I take them!

Whatever you can do would be great.

Not yet, still messing with some other spots I want to scan. the downside to being a cheap scanner is the software is garbage so it takes some fiddling.

No worries just curious. Going to Memphis this weekend and gonna stop in at Mr. Complete Jeep and see is I can get a deal there on a few things.

Can you scan the OEM air filter housing? The upper and lower part? I have been thinking about slicing it up and making a housing that uses the OEM filter but can be fit into other parts of the engine bay.

I'll give it a shot! I'm rapidly learning that when you buy an expensive scanner, its the software that drives the price point.

Ya, I have been looking at scanners and the advantages you get with cheaper vs more expensive scanners. This will be a nice comparison when I inevitably buy the cheap one first.

WelI gave this a shot, but the scanner software just wont handle a part that big it seems. Its a very cheap scanner and I'm finding the price you pay is for the software, not the hardware. Even with markers and matte spray, it loses tracking and really wrecks the scan. I gave up on it after 4 hours and got pretty much nothing usable.

Can’t say you didn’t try. I have been looking at scanners for some time, but it requires expensive software and hardware and I haven’t made the commitment. I might just as well as I have some expensive plastic parts I purchase that I think I can print for far less.
