Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

It just happened!

I ran two pumps inside the TJ and the only time I ever heard it was when you first turn them on. All the other noise easily drowns out the small cycling the compressors do. ;)

That's cool. I guess when you only have to make 5 psi or so, you can do it quietly.

@SkylinesSuck said I have a wheel addiction. He might be right, because these were delivered today. These Vision bead lock wheels will be mated with a set of Falken Wildpeak A/T4W tires, in a 35x11.50R17 size. This new Falken tire is available with a C rating, and they've added a 3rd ply to the sidewall. I've run two sets of Falken A/T3W and have seen how well they perform in a wide range of conditions. The downside is, I'll have to wait until the end of April for the tires to be delivered.

I've got the same wheels on my rig Rich. They are sweet!

I was looking at regular wheels and these came up, at $250 each. That made it hard to pass up. Out of couriousity, did you balance yours? I'm considering balance beads for these. From what I could find, a 10 ounce bag in each wheel should do the trick.

For the price, these are a great option. You do have to bolt the ring to the aluminum. However, they were smart enough to double drill each hole, in the event one bolt hole gets messed up. I've also noticed that the mounting flange is very thick, which may require longer wheel studs. The other thing I like about these is the textured part of the rim and ring that bites into the tire. We'll see how they do!

I did not balance mine as my rig is trail dedicated. I don't see any reason why traditional balancing wouldn't work for these wheels, but I'm no expert on balancing beadlock wheels.

I’ve never been pleased with balance beads. I am also OCD. YMMV.

You can definitely balance beadlocks:

Also beadlocks:

These are much heavier than expected. Online it said 33lbs but mine weighed in at 37.6lbs.

Falken Wildpeak AT4W 35x11.50R17 tires showed up today. Having run 3 sets of AT3W tires, one thing I noticed immediately is how much heavier the 4 is compared to the 3. I'm guessing this has a lot to do with the 3-ply sidewall, which is much tougher than the 2-plys that were typical on the AT3W. The new tires supposedly measure out at a true 35", but we'll have to see once they are mounted. That will happen once the balance beads show up, scheduled for tomorrow.
