Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

It just happened!

The household CEO and I spent some quality time going over our personal plans/goals this past week. Beyond the obvious financial goals, my top priority is to simplify life, spend less time doing what I want, and more time helping others, including family, friends, and people I don't know. As a result, the decision around which Jeep to keep became clear. Although I have a special place in my heart for the LJ, it's not the vehicle for me at this point in my life. I don't need the extra room, it doesn't fit my true wheeling needs, and the reality is I just enjoy driving the TJ more.

Truth be told, I seriously considered selling them both and walking away from Jeeps altogether. However, I've learned that it's healthy to have your own hobby. You just have to be careful to not let it rule you. That said, I'll be putting the LJ up for sale and doubling down on retirement after the first of the year. Given the overall shape of the LJ, coupled with the color, I know this won't be easy. However, I'm also confident I won't regret the decision.

Maybe it's just an artifact of getting old, but I'm realizing more and more that time is the most precious thing we have in life. Because of that, I'm making a personal commitment to spend more time giving to this world, and less time taking from it. A little bit of soul bearing there, but I appreciate you all taking your own time to listen and share your perspectives!

At least the result will be someone buying an LJ.

Making the decision to die-to-self is not an easy one, but one that will reap far greater reward in the future. Well done sir.

Are you implying that he doesn't enjoy doing non-Jeep things?
“my top priority is to simplify life, spend less time doing what I want” <- it’s more so this part of the statement that doesn’t add up for me.

Am I reading this right? Time is precious to you so you want to spend less of it doing things you enjoy?
You're not reading it correctly. I said balance is important and that I'd like to spend more time helping others. Working on two project Jeeps means, for me, that I'd be to inward focused. The way I see it, if I don't help others, I have no justification for complaining the world is falling apart!

You missed the rest of the story....."However, I've learned that it's healthy to have your own hobby. You just have to be careful to not let it rule you."

Nah I read the whole story, it just didn’t really make sense how you wrote it.

What you wrote was “spend less time doing what I want” but in reality it sounds like you want to help others, which isn’t doing less what you want, if that’s that you want to do. So it’s more so a shift in your focus of priority.

I realize I’m splitting hairs here, we’re allowed to like things other than Jeeps, and I’ll agree two project Jeeps isn’t really the move if you have other interests you enjoy in life.

Seems I’m helping a lot of people with all the Jeep parts I’m buying from them.

I take my hat off to you sir, swimming against the tide by looking to help others and not just yourself. Respect!

I find this quite ironic for me…I sold the LJ myself so that we could focus on other things as well as having 2 Jeeps was holding me back a bit from that, and now you’re doing the same.

Mine’s a bit more selfish, but the rat race of NoVa is killing me. Sooner I can get away from it the better. Trailer is up for sale too, and funds are being poured into being able to slow down and enjoy life and my kids as soon as I can. I still got quite a few years, but hopefully these decisions will speed it up.

To think I missed out growing up there.
