Hey All, my daughter did her part in life over the past few years and this is her "senior present"... '06 X auto w/125k. She is over the moon with this thing but I'm getting ready to do some preventative/long-term maintenance and have a question.

It's on 31's. Based on the stamp, these are Skyjacker Hydro 7000 shocks. I'm 99% sure based on ride height that there is no lift and it still has the stock springs.

QUESTION: Can anybody confirm from these pics that it's just shocks?

If yes, then the plan is a 2" spacer lift.

QUESTION: With the bumper/winch, is rake going to be an issue with a spacer lift? And, with "only" 2" of lift and zero off-roading planned, can I just go with factory replacement height shocks and not have to worry about topping out?

Stock spring will measure 12 inches in the front and 8 inches in the rear. If your close to those numbers you are at stock height. If you get a 2" lift you will need longer shocks. To get the correct ones it is best to install the lift then cycle the suspension and set your bump stops. You might consider a body lift instead of going down the rabbit hole of suspension modifications. If you end up with some front rake you can install some small spring spacers.

If you haven't read this thread yet, it is a great place to start learning and will answer a lot of questions

You mean the thread that says this about BLs? :)

"Other than that tummy tuck situation (where a body lift is pretty much mandatory), it's generally recommended to stay steer clear of them."

Based on what you stated the purpose of the Jeep, sounds like street driving and you want somewhat a lift for look. Totally fine with me, but I wouldn’t do a body lift. As someone posted, measuring from spring perch to perch is 12” stock front, 8” back.

I’d look at cost, but springs with 2” lift might be close enough to same cost I’d go with springs.

Most of the folks on here are so down the rabbit hole from technical specs, you’re in the tech of tech people. They’re gonna say no springs marked 2” can be trusted, same with shocks, so NOTHING can be mentioned without saying “kind of 2” depending on 50 factors”. You’ll have to pull springs, disconnect everything and cycle the suspension to get exact shocks based on the exact ride height and the exact length of shock, not the posted height by the company selling them.

For your purpose, zero Offroad, why put or keep a winch on there?
I’d put in the 2” lift springs and 2” Rancho RS5000x and she’ll have an awesome setup.

That is 100% my opinion only, based on your goal.

Great advice. I'll just add, if you "know" that 2" is as high as she wants to go, you might consider H&R 1" springs and a 1" spacer. Only advantage here is to have a very inexpensive fix to eliminating driveline vibrations that may occur at 2" of lift (as they did for me). The fix being removing the spacer. What I had to do to eliminate my vibrations was a transfer case drop (washers on the bolts that hold the transfer case to the frame.) It is unsightly, but "doing it right" is throwing another couple hundred bucks at the problem, and I couldn't justify the expense at the time.

If I was staying at 2", that's the way I would go. But as many before me have done, I am now planning 2 more inches of lift and 33s. It's a slippery slope.
