Is this a double cardan u-joint?

I got a new transmission mount and put it on yesterday…. However…. My jeep is still making a noise…. To me it sounds like it’s one or both u joints on the front DS…. There’s a vibration when I let out the clutch to take off…. I just wonder if the angle on the DS (one or both) might not be right…. I’m at a loss on what to do other than take the front DS back out for now….

The cardan u joints and centering yoke came from Amazon. U joints are the kind that can be greased but the centering yoke can’t be greased… I think the brand is mad hornet

Anybody know what the angles should be on the DS? I’m not sure how to check it other than using a digital angle finder…

Pull the front and see if the noise goes away.

I have never heard of Mad Hornet.

I took the front drive shaft out and the u joint noise is gone…. I replaced the transmission mount also….. but the nuts that go on the mount didn’t line up like they did when the other mount was on there…. I’m hoping the angle is right for the rear drive shaft….

Im assuming that something ain’t right with the cardan joint… it’s like the center yoke is wonky…. It was hard as heck to get it to bolt up to the flange….

Idk …. I’m just at a loss and I’m determined that this sh!t ain’t gonna defeat me….

Do you have a driveline shop near you? The first time you rebuild the double cardan is the hardest.

Thanks yall! I’m hoping this brand that I got will be ok till I can get the spicer brand…. This is my first rebuild lol wasn’t as bad as I had thought it was gonna be lol still some what if a challenge but thank goodness I got me a ball joint (c clamp looking kind) tool online and it was a life saver…

I had the back up joint on the back drive shaft replaced in fall of 2024 and it had done went to crap, it wasn’t greasable. So while I had the back DS out I decided I should just go ahead and do both u joints so I did. The old one on the front of the back DS was a bit of a pain to get out lol but that ball joint tool and a cheater pipe on my breaker bar in combination with my leg strength got it out lol only after a small spill to the ground when it popped lol so out of the 9 u joints I got 5 replaced now lol and I done it by myself lol

I’ve done a sh!t ton to this dang jeep lol and all of it I’ve done all by my self lol

I’m thankful for this forum and all the ppl that have gave advice and helpful tips!!

I’m about to take the cardan apart to get the caps seated in the centering yoke…. And when I go to get it back on the jeep I’m gonna do my best to put it back on with out dropping the skid plate - if it means I gotta crawl up in there like a little spider monkey then I will lol I done dropped it down 5 times and that’s like 4 too many lol but my pink bottle jack and a ratchet strap was the easiest way to get it back on… I learned that my floor jack was no good for that lol

Thanks again yall!

Yeah, I'd run the ones you have till they fail. They may last a long time.

Earlier in the thread I posted how I do it without dropping the skid. Just don't stick your head under the DS while doing it.

That is the best way to learn, doing it yourself!!!

Being a lady and doing the work yourself brings even more respect also.

There is enough knowledge here to help you through anything you undertake and it's freely given.

Having fun is the biggest thing, you got this!
