The thing that bothers me with Armorlite is that you can trap moisture and water under it and make the rust much worse. Water can seep under the edges and puddle. At least carpeting soaks up the water, minimizing the rust. Heat and high humid conditions will create water too. And, it is really troublesome to remove Armorlite to clean under it. It is clear that you have a problem with puddling water by the rust in the bottom of your floorpan. With bedliner that is applied well, you can easily see and mop up any puddling water and the metal is sealed like your exterior paint. This is why most people remove the rubber plugs and bolts before applying it.

Part of the allure of the Armorlite is the sound dampening, doesn't a lot of the interior noise (not counting anything to do with whatever top might be on at the moment) come from the wheel wells?

I'm sure still a hell of an improvement either way.

I don’t have the wheel well covers. Only the front, back, and cargo area. I haven’t noticed any offensive noise levels from the wheel well areas. I’ll get the wheel well covers eventually but just haven’t yet.

For those of you considering LineX, they have other versions as well. The difference is the roughness of the finish. We all know what the texture of the bedliner is, they have 4 other textures, all of which are smoother than the bedliner style.

A friend has his T-top on his boat covered in what they call Ultra. This is a great finish where people will be rubbing up against it and holding on to it.

Thing is, this jeep is for my Son who will get his license in September.

That has certainly crossed my mind more than a few times. I'm tempted to keep this for myself (wife would kill me) and get him a Subaru or something, which is honestly what I should have done. But where is the fun in that?

Thanks all. Just got done blasting the factory carpets at a car wash. For now gonna rock with those and skip the sound dampening. I had the Armorlite’s in my cart and damn near bought them. Thing is, this jeep is for my Son who will get his license in September. With the stereo, few cosmetic upgrades and rims/tires, I think I’ll pump the brakes on spending for the moment. 99% sure will end up with the armorlite in the future though.

I've used duplicolor a few times, and it spruces up old carpet. The biggest shortfall is durability, it won't last like factory dyed carpet in high wear areas.

I really like the duplicolor for painting the roll bar covers, they come out looking like new.

I agree. Young men, with their testosterone running wild, like to drive fast, and that is reckless. I was the same way when, I was young. The cost was just too much, and I had to settle down on my behavior, because I had to pay for everything myself. Then, I got a brand new 1997 Wrangler, and I couldn't afford to date, pay these high car bills, and just waste money. So, I cut out all tickets, even parking tickets. I became the perfect driver on the road. I always use my turn signals, always wear my seat belt, and I never tailgate. I haven't had a moving violation in 28 years.

I am scheduled for the spray at Line-x for the bottom floor of my wrangler. They said they do alot of jeep floors. What do you think about that type of liner?

LineX is a good product but I went with Armorlite and love it

What do you do for wire management? Removing the carpet revealed the wires that were hiding underneath.

That's easy. In my 97 Wrangler the wires went along the wall or under my seats, so they were pretty much out of sight. You could also add a wire loom that matches the bed liner if you are really finicky. I just think of it as the nude look. It's sexy.
