I’m shopping Insurance, Hagerty would not renew. Would like to hear about your experience and who might insure a “recreational” vehicle driven less than 1000 miles per year.

Maybe this is a weird question, I've always driven cheap beater cars and had liability only. Now that my Jeep is attaining "toy" status living in the garage, and I'm dumping a lot of money into it, I need some real insurance. If I get hit by some idiot without insurance I will be out a lot and won't be able to replace it really.

Been thinking about Hagerty (but I don't know much about it) or just calling my insurance Co and getting a better policy for it. I probably drove it 5-7k last year including 2 trips to Moab if that effects how this all works.

I assume you are wanting classic insurance for full value. I had Hagerty on my 91 XJ. They increased $300 a year to $1300 because I had no claim and that was clearly upsetting.
I reached out to SafeCo. They offered classic for $300 a year. Max 2,500 miles situation, but I don't drive the XJ. You will have to submit photos and park it in the garage.

Same here. I have multiple vehicles with them and my policy comes due in Oct. They better not try pulling some funny shit, or I'll be taking my business back to Grundy.

I'd like to know as well. I'm currently insured with Hagerty for all my "classics" including the TJ.

After a conversation with the agent asking me to explain why I thought the TJ was a classic, they called me back a day later and said “we no longer insure jeeps”

Thanks to Unique! I just called Safeco and have annual insurance “classic” for the Jeep!

Was your Jeep the only vehicle on the policy? If they try that shit with me, I won't hesitate to cancel and go back to Grundy.

Did you have any other vehicle insured with Hagerty or just the jeep?

I would assume that if your only vehicle with them is a jeep, they may drop you. I know a year or so ago people were reaching out about covering only their jeep and they wouldn't do it. If you have a policy with another classic car on it, I couldn't imagine they would drop you. At least that's my hope.

I just logged in, and the system allowed me to complete an estimate for a TJ (I chose '03 like mine).

Might be zip code dependent. I cannot select Jeep for any year with my zip code. I have my 05 LJ insured with Hagerty plus another vehicle.

They turned me down with no explanation. I assumed because I drive it too many miles a year.
But…..they kept on sending emails to advertise their junk?

My policy is due in October, so I'll be finding out soon. I think I typically get the statement in early September.

I didn't complete the whole process, but it let me start a quote for my 04 LJ and start selecting the varies options to get a quote. WA State zip code.
