Howdy! Just introducing myself and my 2006 TJ. She's bare bones! This is my second Jeep, first being a 2018 Rubicon JL.

I used to run an event for a couple of years called Power Wagons in Moab which lead to me buying my first Jeep thinking I wanted to get into even harder trails.

But it turned out, I'm just too used to the long wheel base and did NOT like wheeling the Jeep hard. What I did fall in love with was having the doors off all the time and cruising mountain & forest roads in Idaho.

But, I ended up selling the JL in 2020 to fund some life goals and a lot has worked out since that decision.

For the past two years I've been toying with the idea of picking up another more basic Jeep to cruise around in and do some work on. Really liked the looks of the TJ's. And finally found one that checked the boxes in terms of it's overall condition on the frame, engine and interior. A good base, not too heavily modified and at a price I could pay cash for.

Just picked her up on Wednesday morning, so don't have too many photos. A few things to change right off the bat and a few things to figure out. LIke for starters, I'm pretty confident the suspension is stock, which means in case of the 33's she ain't got no articulation. But it's a start. She's bare bones SE with out even AC.

Anyways, glad to have found this resource!

I totally relate to that sentiment.

Are you going to lift it or put smaller tires on? Gearing as low as possible would help that 4banger.

Also, there are factory service manuals to download in the resources section and a few threads on properly setting up a tj lift.

Welcome!

Ya know, the 33's almost feel the right size. I went straight to 37's and a 3.5 Metalcloak lift on the JL. And I don't think I'll do that again. It certainly looked cool.

If at most, she might see 35's one day in the future. She's actually is optioned with the 4.0L inline six and has a 3.75 rear axle.

So the lift is to be figured out I guess. It won't be huge. I do want to figure out dialing in the comfort level. I have custom tuned King 2.5's on my truck and was driving the Jeep up the mountain yesterday and was like "Ohhh right this is what stock shocks feel like" :ROFLMAO:

I intend to pass this Jeep onto my middle daughter whose into cars. So I think I'll be doing more of a comfort build. Thinking this should be able to do something like the Alpine Loop with ease and without rattling my teeth out.

I'm in no rush though. So I'll be reading and lurking a lot. :)

Welcome! I moved but I lived in south east Idaho for a few years with my 4cyl tj and man do I miss the blm trails I had access too. Gearing and keeping weight down is your friend. Excited to see where your jeep goes.
