I was just wanting to know how you all find the trails to go out on. I want to take out one of my friends this spring/summer. I'm based in Washington if you have any thoughts about good places to go that would be much appreciated.

P.S. I'm new to offroading just want some not too technical trails.

The best way to learn about your local trails is to join your local Jeep or 4x4 club. They're easily found with Google, like search for "Washington offroad clubs". Clubs have organized runs and they'll be discussed ahead of time so you'll know if they're going to be easier or more difficult. Keep in mind that our Jeeps can typically successfully conquer trails that are tougher than our minds are ready for. :)

^^^ What Jerry said. Also, since you should never go wheeling alone, the club serves both as a way to find your local trails as well as a source of new friends to go on said trails with.

   So accurate as well.

Here in Washington this is a good place to start

Also Nwjeepin.com used to have a ton of trails but I’m having problems getting it to work right now

PNWJeep also but that forum is dead but maybe their Facebook?

All Around the sound Jeep club goes out also but that group is too big for me to want to jeep with. But I hear that do have some good Newby runs.

Can also check here, I usually post up when im going out

Welcome to your new addiction. Just Empty Every Pocket.

Which side of WA are you in? There are really 2 Washingtons & the two don't mix that often..... east & west. And frankly it's a lot different kind of wheelin too.

Where are you located, West or East side? I’m on the East side. I end up wheelin in ID more than around E WA

I've found the DNR to be a pretty good resource for finding info on trails, at least here in MN. Looks like Washington has a page that might be useful as well. It's also handy for finding info on any registration that might be needed for off-roading.

Explore forest roads as a start, some of them get pretty gnarly. Also where exactly are you in WA? There is the Naches Pass trail which is pretty iconic and if your willing to take a road trip to OR you can earn 2 badges of honor for the Cedar Tree and Firebreak Five trails.

Thanks. I’ll take this all into account. I’m from the west side.

The best bet is to find a club https://www.pnw4wda.org/clubs-r2.php or a shop that specializes in off road vehicles that's local to your area. They can give you the info on whats near you and what setup you might need. "The west side" is a big area, Walker Valley ORV outside Mt Vernon is good, Tahuya down southwest of Bremerton, Reiter foothills, Elbe . . .

Northridge 4x4 in Silverdale would have info for that area, Better Off Road in Oak Harbor, Woody's 4x4 in Vancouver WA, Extreme Options Offroad and Fabrication (xo-fab) in Enumclaw.

Needless to say, don't go alone and make sure your rig is set up for the trail you choose. Or you could look up the Washington State Backcountry Discovery route https://ridebdr.com/wabdr/ That runs across the state from Oregon to Canada.
