I just did mine.
You first need to see if your jeep was prewired for such. Mine being a 2000 and lowest of the models had it, sure they probably all were. The way to find out. Look around/below/in front of the brake booster to see if you have a 4 pin connector that is not hooked to anything. If you have that the rest is somewhat easy. If you dont have the spare plug you will also need to build a small harness, lots of info on here about such.
1. disconnect your battery
2. remove driver air bag
3 See if you have the clockspring that has the extra connectors/harness for the cruise switches? If you dont you will need to get one, about $70 on ebay
4. IF you have the proper clockspring, its possible you also have the small harness that goes to the wheel switches.
5. If you dont have the small harness and switches, you will need to get those and this is where this gets a little tricky as there are several different switches that all look identical but not. Beware ebay sellers market them ALL as working for all years, they dont. See my recent thread about the subject of the switches and how to alter them if you buy the wrong one, or keep buying until you get one that works.

here is what I found for the OE part numbers for the switches based on the year of manufacturing. The problem I found is near all the sellers of the switches claim they all work.
6. Install clockspring if you have to.
7. Install the switches.
8. Obtain/Mount the servo motor that mounts under the hood. From what I discovered just about any servo will work with any year, but the mounting bracket is unique to what year you have.
9. Plug the spare 4 pin connector into the servo.
10. All should be good to go.
11. Crank the engine, push ON/OFF button. If all is ok the Cruise light on your dash should come on. If it does not it probably you have the wrong switches. In my thread above, Post 2 tells how to see if your light is working.
Honestly, IF I had to do it again not knowing all I know now, I would have just gone with a Rostra. The cost for my case would have been less, not to include everything would have been in 1 box ready to go. Took me several weeks and quite a bit of effort to find all the stuff, and even then had to mod the switches to get mine to working.
Good luck.
