How do I access the last two bolts on the oil pan between the pan and rear main seal?

How do I access the last two bolts on the oil pan between the pan and rear main seal? I can't get a socket around this cover without braking it. 99 TJ 4.0

That one you can get with a thin-wall socket for sure, and that other one looks like you'll have to remove the cover to get to it.

Thanks. I didn't know the clutch cover was easy to remove while on the vehicle. Looks like the starter will need to come off to take the cover off?

Yes, remove the starter and then the cover

You may have figured it out now - but the gasket piece actually flexes and you can take a regular socket and just force it on the bolt (I used a small hammer to tap it on)

I didn't remove my starter but had to remove the downpipe.
