I got the fittings to relocate the vent while I have it all tore down, so that will be the next thing I do before it gets time to start reassembling

Yeah, there's no reason not to do that while you're in there. How did you close up the pump vent?
I have some brass 1/4” npt countersunk plugs, so I tapped it and used one of them. Figured it would probably be the best option so that I don’t have to worry about it interfering with the torque converter
I don't remember what size I used, but I should've gone one size bigger on the tap because that I do have barely threads in. When I rebuilt mine, I didn't disassemble the pump because I was a scared little girl, but if I ever have to open it up again I will fix that proper.
It is a chick and she is big, and well you know. Welcome to the forum and don’t be surprised if you get teased a bit. I just love picking on them bama boys.
Don't believe the hype on the tranny puking up fluid after you move the vent. I'm 100% convinced that only happens when people (a) overfill their trans and (b) have a low spot in the breather hose.
Welcome to the forum Cowbird !
@TJ Jim have you noticed how @John Cooper is getting like Kamala ? When we're picking on Alabama he's from Georgia but any other time he's from Alabama, he would make a good politicianNext week he'll be hollering ROLL TIDE but claim he's a GA Bulldawg !!!!

Um no sir, born and raised in Athens Georgia and a Bulldawg for life.
Maybe a cousin but I have no brothers or sisters
Well, I was a Bama fan until my oldest daughter headed down to Troy a couple years ago. Now that they get my money I’m a bonafide Trojan - and what a horrible time to become one…. My middle daughter is a high school senior and got her acceptance letter from Bama on Wednesday, so I might become a man divided. I’m sure they have a term for it nowadays like “fan fluid or bi-collegiate” either way I’m going to be one broke dude
Athens Georgia! My daughter lives in Watkinsville.
The way Bama is looking you might want to stay a Trojan![]()

Even if a little fluid does come up it’s been than the water that was in the tranny when I tore it apart. I should’ve took pics but didn’t think about it at the time![]()
For sure. The truth is that fluid will in all likliehood come up the hose a certain distance, but if you have a low point in the hose some amount will settle there rather than draining back down into the transmission. So now you basically have a fluid "plug" in the breather hose, so when pressure builds up it has no choice but to push the fluid plug up the hose. I had this happening but I finally figured it out when I was adding transmission fluid and I heard it bubbling/gurgling. When I straightened out the hose the gurgling went away and it never spit up on my again.
I said 100%, but it's more like 99% certain. I also added an aux cooler so it is possible that the lowered temps have not allowed for a spit up situation to arise.
