Looking for an RV cam or little beefier. Already up graded my 99 TJ 4.0 With larger throttle body and ported and polished intake, freeflow thrush welded exaust with cat delete, high volume fuel bump, 12 hole injectors with new fuel rail. Also picking up new head but can't afford the edelbrock but l will be porting and polishing it as well so if any recommendations on a solid REMANUFACTRED one that's loaded I wouldn't mind recomdations there as well. Im pretty sure im going with comp cam lifters as well as replacing the push rods and pker arms. Whole motor only has 5000 miles on it but have had top end issues since day one but I lived with it but its gone downhill bit by bit so gonna replace and upgrade. Original had lots of warranty left but from experience it will be months of BS until resolved so just pulling the triger going this route and will eventually end up with an extra head. In a perfect world a all included package would be preferable but a Frankenstein build will work. Want too get it done yesterday as its finally off road weather here in the Mojave. So what ya got, 🤔 And thanks in advance. 🤘

I think on the cam it depends a little on what your goal is. All the options are about some sort of tradeoff. Do you want low rpm torque with smooth idle or high rpm power? This comp 163-301-5 cam (.488/.507) should be a good bump in power throughout the mid to upper end without giving up too much on the bottom end and it is designed for the thrust plate style in the later 4.0 motor. You might need to upgrade the valve springs for the 163-301-5 as .500 is usually borderline for the stock springs and this cam is designed to pair with the Eddy head. I think the 163-201-5 might be the sweet spot on a stock head at .450/.450 but it seems they've been out of stock a long time. It's almost the same as the one Jezza selected, but has a slightly different duration and LSA. He was having issues with the 1.7 roller rockers (Scorpion I think) on the earlier head, but if your budget can swing some 1.6 roller rockers you'll get some benefit from valvetrain stability and reduced friction.

I don't know what a good option is on lifters right now. Maybe buy 2 sets and hope you can find 12 good ones in there. They're relatively cheap compared to wiping a cam and the time to start over. Clay Smith might be the best option on flat tappet lifters right now that I found while researching. https://claysmithcams.com/hydraulic-flat-tappet-lifters/

Clegg has a ported and larger valve head. They seem to be pretty well regarded and my discussions with the folks over there about a stroker kit have been good. It's not that much cheaper than an Edelbrock, but being ported and having the valves udpated to LS sizes is a great upgrade. The Eddy head has an advantage with the more modern and tighter chamber design. It provides higher compression, better swirl or tumble and with the quench dialed you'd get a better quench pad, but a disadvantage with chamber sidewall clearance if you want to run a larger LS valve. Newcomer does good steel heads as well from all reports, but they're as expensive as an unmodified Edelbrock.
