ok so got a new windshield installed in my project 04 tj. the other night i had to use my heater on defrost and this morning when i went to go to work i noticed a haze on the passenger side of the windshield. looks like an oil slick shimmery/blue color. do yall think this is the heater core failing and starting to leak? no water on floor at all. heater and ac work amazingly well.

I had this happen after my windshield was replaced. I bought a foaming glass cleaner from HF and after two cleanings, the film went away.

My guess is that it's outgassing from new RTV or whatever sealer they use. Or from a new rubber seal. (Don't know, have not see the glass out of the frame on a Wrangler).

Thats most possible. it was super hot yesterday (well hot by island standards) so im gonna give it a good clean like the other fellas said and go from there!

thanks!

wow, is that terminal or can it be saved ? would you start with 1200 or 60 grit ?

Lesser owners have not been able to conquer it, but I have government training and am sponsored by the US Auto Glass Manufacturers Association. Safelite has me on speed dial.

I’d likely immerse the entire rig in an ultrasonic vat, then go from there.

I knew you were the one that could tell him how to correct this situation :ROFLMAO:

Hahahah that was some good reading. I’m a parts advisor for Mercedes so I’ll just use whatever chemical we have here from Germany 😂 it’s gotta be good if it’s German right 😂 😂

I don't know if the Germans still over-engineer everything or not but I'd be careful using Mercerdes glass cleaner on a windshield made anywhere else.
