Gun Rack Options

I just don’t keep the gun in the Jeep. I keep it on my person.

If worried about your kids Eddie Eagle is your friend. We trained from early (stop, leave the area, tell an adult). I tested them by leaving guns around the house (unloaded of course). If a kid came and told me they got ice cream or $10. Everyone in my family knows and respects the rules and loves to shoot.

Yeah but when you arrive somewhere it isn't legal to carry I can't afford the problems. Be nice to have a safe place to lock it

The only place I do not have it with me is at my son's school. If somewhere doesn't want me to protect myself I don't feel I need to spend my time or money with them.

We followed the same approach with our girls when they were 4 and 5 . Right and wrong is something learned.

Many places here are not legal to carry like 51% businesses, schools, churches etc.

Combo lock?

Yep, they sell one to replace the keyed lock. It takes about 15 minutes to change it out. I found the keyed lock to be an issue since I kept it on my key ring. With the combo lock I can even keep my keys locked up with everything else, which is nice at the beach or somewhere I don't want to carry keys. Also, if you set it up right, lock and unlock can be a simple thumb swipe and turn the knob.

Is it a crime if you do or is it just someone putting a safe space sign up?

Here is is a crime at schools and some state and federal buildings. The rest are only some people who think they are safe behind a sign.

Most states it's only trespassing if they ask you to leave and you don't for businesses that have a no guns sign. If it's concealed, they'll never know.

Schools, City, State or Federal properties are another story.

In Texas it is illegal to carry in 51% businesses as well as schools. Now the requirements for a business to be gun free are very strict on the exact size and shape of the signs and lettering. 51% businesses have to put up signs staying they are such. I can't even leave it in my car at work because it's a Federal Reservation. And almost any arrest would seriously jeopardize my carrier.

Texas is a permitless carry state. I would think the only legal restrictions would be schools and government operations like FL.

Not long ago there was a shooting at a church in TX where the bad guy was taken out by a good guy with a gun before he started shooting. Is the a law that makes it illegal if they post a sign or something along those lines?

I cannot even tell you a single place I go that has a sign not do I think I have seen a sign in a long time. If I do, I turn around. I have season tickets to the local NFL team and do not go because they tell me I am safe because the signs say "gun free zone" but my research shows more mass shootings at gun free zones than non.

When are they going to pass open carry in FL? Of course I'm always on the way to camp, fish...

Smart man!

Im actually split on open carry...it takes the fear of the unknown out of the equation for bad guys. I also think it would allow a bad guy to procure a good guys gun as most won't be paying attention when standing in line somewhere.

Concealed carry is for protection. Open carry is for attention.

You know what a bad guy calls someone who is open carrying? A target.

I don't open carry in populated areas, just draws unwanted attention. I only open carry in the woods, etc.

It's just the chance of your concealed carry turning into open carry due to clothes shifting, etc that is a concern.

Open carry is legal here in GA.

I was TDY to Dallas when TX passed open carry, According to the news, there would be blood flowing in the streets. Of course, nothing changed. Couldn't believe it hadn't been legal there.

I am on board with @DuckNut on this one.

AZ is a constitutional carry state. Unless there's someone at the door checking, you can assume I am armed. I have only experienced an issue at concert venues and the courthouse.
