I think I made a rookie mistake in buying these rock sliders......
I knew about not having the double bend as they wrap around the bottom of the tub and was willing to concede that since I really didn't want to get into bending the pinch weld flange back and then dealing with what to do at the seam with fender and the fender itself.
What stupid me didn't realize until trial fitting for the first time last night was the return flange underneath isn't long enough to mount to the torque box. The includes spacer pucks for attaching to floor sheet metal between pinch weld flange and the torque box (see included image). I also noticed at the front just behind the fender joint, there is no body structure for an underneath attachment which leaves the front of the rock slider somewhat "hanging in the wind" (see included image).
With the bottom attachments not mounted to the torque box, I am thinking the whole thing will just bend together on an impact. Heck even the stock Rubicon sliders are mounted to the torque box.
Am I over thinking the mounting concerns?? I assume GenRight has sold a ton of these over the years but really can't find much in the way of install posts or reviews which I guess could be a telling factor itself.
Should I scrap these and chalk it up to the painful learning curve and wait for the reintroduction of Savvy's rock sliders or look to @Fluxor's version?
